Dvojnásobný mistr USA Simmons strávil v úniku téměř celý den. Do sóla se vydal zhruba 20 km před cílem a oslavil druhé vítězství v sezoně. „Spíš jsem chtěl něco předvést v pondělí, protože to bylo výročí úmrtí Gina Mädera. Bylo pro mě těžké se sem vrátit, ale chtěl jsem ho uctít a to mi dodalo extra motivaci,“ uvedl Simmons.
Připomněl tak tragickou nehodu švýcarského jezdce Mädera, jenž v roce 2023 při závodě zahynul po pádu do rokle. Simmons byl tehdy svědkem jeho havárie. V pondělí na vítězství útočil, ale skončil čtvrtý.
Vítěz nedělní etapy a průběžný lídr Grégorie dojel čtvrtý a vede stále o 25 sekund před dnes pátým krajanem Kévinem Vauquelinem.
Čeští účastníci Petr Kelemen a Pavel Bittner se dnes seřadili na 128. a 129. místě ve skupině se čtvrthodinovým odstupem za vítězným Simmonsem.
