Embora a torcida japonesa tenha comparecido em peso para apoiar o Urawa Reds Diamonds nesta terça-feira, o River Plate-ARG não teve trabalho para sair com a vitória na estreia do Mundial de Clubes e somou os primeiros pontos no grupo E, que ainda conta com o Monterrey-MEX e Inter de Milão-ITA. A joia dos Milionários, Mastantuono, recentemente vendido para o Real Madrid, também mostrou o cartão de visita ao iniciar a jogada do primeiro gol. Colidio, Driussi e Meza marcaram no placar de 3 a 1, enquanto Matsuo descontou para os asiáticos.
O Urawa Reds chegou com a intenção de atrair os argentinos para o campo de defesa e roubar a bola para um contra-ataque rápido, mas tiveram poucas saídas efetivas. Com isso, o River Plate encontrou espaço e tempo para trocar passes e escolher as melhores jogadas no ataque, controlando o ritmo do jogo e pouco sendo atacado.
A joia argentina Franco Mastantuono, vendido para o Real Madrid por 63,2 milhões de euros (cerca de R$ 406 milhões pela cotação atual), teve poucas vezes a bola em seu pé, na ponta direita. Na dividida com o rival, o atacante sentiu o calcanhar e foi substituído por Borja, ex-Palmeiras.
O jogo mudou de ritmo quando o Urawa conseguiu diminuir o placar, de pênalti. Aos 11 minutos do segundo tempo, Takuro entrou na grande área em alta velocidade e foi parado com falta por Acuña. Na cobrança, o atacante Matsuo deslocou o goleiro e marcou.
O lance fez o jogo ficar mais dinâmico, deixando os japoneses mais confiantes para atacarem e pressionarem o River no campo de defesa, mas sem conseguir gerar um lance real de gol.
Aos 28 minutos do segundo tempo, após cobrança de escanteio de Acuña, Meza cabeceou para o terceiro gol argentino, jogando um balde de água fria na equipe japonesa, que não conseguiu mais reagir.
Com os três pontos, no próximo jogo, o River Plate enfrentará o Monterrey, no sábado, às 22h. No mesmo dia, às 16h, o Urawa Reds terá a tarefa de vencer o Inter de Milão para se manter vivo na disputa.

Getty Images Former NFL cornerback Richard Sherman has been charged with driving under the influence following his arrest in King County back in 2024, according to the Seattle Times. Blood-test results from the State Patrol crime lab showed Sherman had a blood-alcohol level of approximately 0.11 the night of his arrest, which is above the legal limit of 0.08. Sherman was arrested following a traffic stop around 2 a.m. on Feb. 24, 2024. A Washington State Patrol officer noted Sherman's car was "bouncing back and forth within the lane it was traveling in."
