CEO explica por que ex-time de Neymar inicia Copa de Clubes sem ‘superastros’ após torrar R$ 3 bilhões: ‘Enlouqueceram’

Na esteira de uma guinada esportiva irrigada por milhões de dólares aportados pela Arábia Saudita na liga de futebol local, o Al Hilal estreia nesta quarta-feira na Copa do Mundo de Clubes contra um dos principais concorrentes ao título, o Real Madrid. O ex-time de Neymar chega ao torneio em solo americano sem megacontratações para o elenco, depois de torrar US$ 470 milhões (quase R$ 3 bilhões) em contratações desde 2023, em especial a do atacante da seleção brasileira — cujo desempenho esportivo, afetado por sucessivas lesões, frustrou expectativas.

A principal novidade da equipe é o treinador: vice-campeão da Liga dos Campeões pela Inter de Milão, Simone Inzagui chega para substituir Jorge Jesus na lateral de campo. Será o segundo mais bem pago mundo entre os técnicos, com salário estimado em US$ 29 milhões anuais. Com jogadores, porém, apesar de especulações em torno de nomes como Cristiano Ronaldo, Bruno Fernandes e Vinícius Júnior, não houve acerto na janela extra aberta para a Copa de Clubes.

Houve quem especulasse se a fonte saudita havia “secado”. CEO do Al Hilal, Esteve Calzada destacou ao jornal Marca que o alto valor exigido por jogadores travou a conclusão das negociações.

— [O alto valor pago a jogadores na Arábia Saudita] Era uma realidade há algum tempo e agora está virando um mito. Administramos com um orçamento que temos que cumprir, e é verdade que alguns jogadores ou agentes não entendem isso. Realmente, o que um jogador pode ganhar na Arábia Saudita sempre será muito maior do que ele pode ganhar na Europa, mas é óbvio que não temos recursos ilimitados nem imprimimos dinheiro — ressaltou.

Calzada ressaltou que o clube perdeu “oportunidades” de contratar jogadores por eles acreditarem que o dinheiro era “inesgotável”. O CEO ponderou que a gestão preferiu manter as contas sustentáveis.

— Alguns enlouqueceram pelos valores que estão pedindo. Acham que podemos pagar qualquer valor — disse ele.

Entre as contratações desde 2023, Neymar lidera o ranking das mais custosas. O jogador, atualmente no Santos, fez apenas sete jogos e marcou um gol com a camisa do Al Hilal. Além do atacante, outros três brasileiros aparecem no top 10 das negociações mais caras do time saudita.
