„Jsem hlavně rád, že hrajeme v Evropě a necestujeme do míst, jako je Mexiko, Argentina, Indie,“ oddechl si Pála.
Domácí tenistky by v baráži mohly nasadit Donnu Vekičovou, která je 22. na světě. Kolumbijskou jedničkou je 55. hráčka WTA Camila Osoriová. „Donna je stříbrná z olympiády v Paříži, viděl jsem spoustu jejích zápasů proti našim hráčkám, ta bude určitě nejnebezpečnější. Pro nás ale bude nejdůležitější, jaká bude naše sestava. Aby byly holky zdravé a připravené, abychom se udrželi ve světové skupině,“ dodal kapitán.

„Kapitána dělám od roku 2008 a vím, že to někdy musí skončit. V nominacích jsou stále mladší a mladší holky a já s nimi nemládnu…,“ řekl nejúspěšnější kapitán v dějinách soutěže. Triumf slavil Pála celkem šestkrát, nikdo jiný z kapitánů nevyhrál více než čtyřikrát.
Pokud Češky v baráži uspějí, budou hrát v roce 2026 znovu kvalifikaci, v opačném případě by musely do regionální skupiny.
