Ídolo do São Paulo, o comentarista Souza voltou a subir o tom contra o clube paulista nesta quarta-feira (18), no “Os Donos da Bola”, sobre a postura da diretoria de Julio Casares na busca por reforços e disse que o torcedor não pode se enganar com o último título de expressão faturado pela equipe do Morumbi: a Copa do Brasil de 2023.

Incisivo nos comentários, ele afirmou que a frequente busca da diretoria por jogadores caros e renomados ajudou a mergulhar o SPFC em um cenário preocupante em termos administrativos, com a dívida sendo ‘inflada’, se aproximando assim da casa do bilhão. No entendimento do comentarista, o título faturado há dois anos mostra que nem sempre é necessário um time estrelado para vencer.

“Quando você troca muito não tem convicção do seu trabalho ou quer dar resposta ao torcedor. Foram 48 jogadores e não achou um time. E a equipe remanescente que ganhou título era de atletas desconhecidos. Hoje, é melhor você gastar com quem tem ‘fome’ de jogar bola, crescer com o clube, do que contratar medalhões. A pior contratação foi o Daniel Alves“, disparou Souza, minimizando na sequência o título da Copa do Brasil, conquistado pelo clube em 2023.

“Ganhou três títulos recentemente, mas com todo respeito, a Copa do Brasil é ‘agua de salsicha’, sempre falava. Essa competição só ganhou notoriedade no futebol brasileiro quando começaram a aumentar valor de premiação”, complementou o ex-jogador.

Em seu segundo mandato no comando do Executivo do SPFC, o presidente Julio Casares gastou R$ 229 milhões em reforços. Com isso, o débito do clube paulista subiu drasticamente, com o déficit saltando de R$ 642 milhões para R$ 968 milhões. Somente em 2024, o índice cresceu R$ 287 milhões. O cenário ligou alerta nos bastidores, e a diretoria passou a adotar postura mais comedida na janela de transferências, evitando altos investimentos.

Em 2025, foram apenas cinco contratações executadas pela gestão, com destaque para o retorno de Oscar, que chegou a custo zero, mas possui vencimentos salariais expressivos. Além do camisa 8, desembarcaram no time do Morumbi Enzo Díaz, Cédric Soares, Wendell e Juan Dinenno, reforço este que foi anunciado na última semana vindo do Cruzeiro, e vai estrear na retomada do calendário nacional.

Em recesso por conta da disputa do Mundial de Clubes, o São Paulo tem reapresentação marcada para o dia 26 de junho, data esta que o novo técnico Hernán Crespo terá o primeiro contato com os jogadores, visando a sequência da temporada. O próximo jogo do Tricolor está marcado para o dia 16 de julho, frente ao Red Bull Bragantino, pela 14ª rodada do Brasileirão.

O time, no entanto, pode entrar em campo antes disso, mediante ao desempenho do Flamengo no Mundial de Clubes. O confronto da 13ª rodada ainda está pendente pela CBF, e uma eliminação precoce dos cariocas pode culminar na marcação do embate para o dia 13, junto com os demais jogos já com data sinalizadas.
