Brody King grabbed the attention during the “Grand Slam Mexico” event for his attire, the event organized by All Elite Wrestling (AEW) at the Arena Mexico in Mexico City, he would have jumped into the ring with a T-shirt with the message “Abolish ICE”, in reference to the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Service.King was part of a 14-man tag team match alongside the likes of Adam Cole, Atlantis, Atlantis Jr., Bandido, Daniel Garcia and Templario. His team was victorious against the wrestlers Dax Harwood, Hechicero, Josh Alexander, Konosuke Takeshita, Kyle Fletcher, Lance Archer and Volador Jr.
The event marked a collaboration between AEW and the Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL), one of the leading wrestling promotions in Mexico, attracting fans from all over the world.

Brody King’s T-shirt comes at a time of high tension in Los Angeles, where protests have occurred in rejection of recent immigration raids. Some of these demonstrations have escalated into violence, including clashes with authorities, damage to vehicles and looting.
King shared on social media a message from Mexican makeup artist Jose Corella, criticizing the legality and morality of ICE’s immigration detentions. The text defended Los Angeles’ “sanctuary city” status, arguing that being undocumented is a civil offense, not a criminal one, and condemned what it described as extrajudicial actions by immigration agents.
Athletes speak out against ICE program
The message has resonated with other sports figures, such as Los Angeles Dodgers baseball player Enrique Hernandez and the National Women’s Soccer League club Angel City FC, who have shared similar posts.
Although this is not the first time Brody King has expressed political views in public, this appearance takes place on an international stage and in a country that is particularly sensitive to US immigration policies. AEW has not issued any official comment on King’s gesture, which has reignited the debate about the importance of free speech, even on issues that seemingly have nothing to do with politics such as sport and entertainment.
