La estrella del Barcelona y de la selección española se sincera en una entrevista concedida a Forbes, donde reconoce que trabaja cada día con un objetivo claro: alargar su carrera. “Me cuido para llegar a los 37”, asegura un jugadora que a sus 31 años mantiene intacto el hambre de seguir compitiendo al más alto nivel.
La catalana, que viene de conquistar el Mundial con España, cree que la selección ya ha alcanzado un nivel que le permite mirar de tú a tú a las grandes potencias: “Ya no ves a las alemanas, inglesas o francesas tan lejos. Ese momento de competir de igual a igual llegó en el último Mundial, y fue algo tan grande que ni llegabas a soñarlo”.
Mirando al futuro
En la conversación con Forbes, Alexia recuerda también sus orígenes, desde los primeros toques en la plaza de su pueblo hasta su llegada al Barça, tras pasar por un campus de Nike: “Me ficharon después de verme allí. Xavi Llorens me enseñó a controlar esa rabia causada por mi pasión por jugar”.
Sobre el éxito del Barcelona femenino, lo tiene claro: “Es un proyecto super consolidado. No depende ni de una, ni de dos ni de cinco. El compromiso es tan grande que, aunque se fueran diez, las otras diez mantendrían la identidad y mentalidad del juego”.
