El Flamengo, a la espera de lo que suceda en el otro encuentro del grupo, da un paso de gigante a los octavos de final del Mundial de Clubes. Se impuso al Chelsea, al que superó en el encuentro, con tres goles en la segunda mitad para dar la vuelta al 0-1 con el que los ingleses se fueron al descanso. Los brasileños, que dejaron una gran imagen, mantienen inmaculada su hoja de servicio en el torneo. Pleno de triunfos, dos de dos.  

Pedro Neto, que ya había marcado en el primer partido, tiene mucha clase y el Chelsea lo aprovecha. Cuando toca el balón, siempre pasa algo. Wesley no estuvo fino en una entrega en la medular y el portugués, después de un par de rebotes en el pecho, se llevó la pelota. Enfiló con velocidad hacia el área y se plantó ante Agustín Rossi al que batió en el mano a mano con un disparo raso. Los ingleses se adelantaban en el minuto 13. El premio a la efectividad.

Antes había sido el Flamengo el que mejor había entrado al encuentro. Los brasileños, intensos y con mucho ritmo, intentaron ahogar al Chelsea desde el inicio con una presión alta que provocara el error en la salida de balón de los de Maresca. Lo consiguieron. A dos pases de Robert Sánchez les faltó precisión y los de Filipe Luis metieron el miedo en el cuerpo a los blues. Pero no acertaron y apareció Pedro Neto.

Peligro por la derecha

El Flamengo, por momentos con más de un 65% de posesión, no se descompuso por el tanto. Continuó bien plantado, abriendo el campo para entrar por las bandas, sobre todo por la derecha. Por ahí volcaba el juego y por ahí llegaba casi todo el peligro por medio de Gerson y con alguna incorporación de Wesley. Pasó algún aprieto el Chelsea, pero no culminaban las jugadas los brasileños, que lo hacían todo bien menos la finalización. Los blues, un disparo lejano de Malo Gusto y poco más.

Colwill sacó bajo palos en el minuto 43 un remate de Gerson tras un saque de falta de De Arrascaeta. El Flamengo rozó el empate. La sensación era que estaba mejor, pero en el fútbol cuentan los goles. Al descanso se marchó con ventaja el Chelsea.

Remontada del Flamengo

Gerson y Gonzalo Plata perdonaron a los ingleses al comienzo del segundo tiempo y luego la suerte se alió con el Flamengo porque Delap y Leonardo Pereira corrían a por un balón en largo y llegó antes el defensa brasileño, que estuvo a punto de marcar en propia puerta.

Movió el banquillo Filipe Luis y acertó. Porque entró Bruno Henrique y cambió el encuentro en tres minutos. Marcó el 1-1 en el 62′ tras una gran dejada en el área con la cabeza de Gonzalo Plata y después regaló el segundo en el 65′ tras dársela también con la testa a Danilo, que firmó el 2-1, tras un saque de esquina. Los dos goles fueron muy similares.

Al Chelsea se le puso todo en contra. A los dos tantos del Flamengo se unió la expulsión de Jackson por una dura entrada sobre Ayrton Lucas. Cuatro minutos estuvo en el campo. Salió en el 64′ y le mostraron la roja en el 68′. El Flamengo aprovechó la superioridad para sentenciar el encuentro con un tanto, el tercero de los brasileños, de Wallace Yan en el 83′. Los brasileños, con su afición cantando ‘olé’ en la recta final del partido, dieron una lección a los europeos.
