Ao mesmo tempo, o número de pessoas nas arquibancadas dos Estados Unidos ainda passa de longe de ser sucesso retumbante.
Principal medidor da popularidade, a média de público deste Mundial fechou a 1ª rodada em 34.773 torcedores. Foram 16 jogos de características bem diferentes, desde a goleada do Paris Saint-Germain (França) sobre o Atlético de Madrid (Espanha), que atraiu 80.691 — recorde até agora — em Los Angeles, até a vitória tímida do Mamelodi Sundowns (África do Sul) sobre o Ulsan HD (Coreia do Sul), com apenas 3.412 testemunhas em Orlando, e ainda atrasada por questões climáticas.
Os extremos dos borderôs nos EUA apenas comprovam que os grandes times ou jogos são o principal fator atrativo destes torneios. O segundo maior público (62.415) veio no empate entre Real Madrid (Espanha) e Al Hilal (Arábia Saudita), em Miami, mesmo local que recebeu o terceiro (60.927): a igualdade entre Al Ahly (Egito) e Inter Miami (EUA).

Os públicos dos jogos dos quatro times brasileiros apareceram em posições intermediárias no ranking da primeira rodada, liderados pelas 46.275 pessoas em Nova Jersey para ver o empate entre Palmeiras e Porto (Portugal). No mesmo local, 34.736 testemunharam a igualdade entre Fluminense e Borussia Dortmund (Alemanha). Do outro lado, o estádio de Seattle comporta 68 mil pessoas, mas esteve abaixo dos 50% nos dois jogos. Em Cincinnati, onde cabem 26 mil, a ocupação foi de 20,3% na partida do Salzburg, e 81,3% na goleada do Bayern de Munique (Alemanha) sobre o Auckland City (Nova Zelândia), que recebeu 21.152.
Em Los Angeles, onde quase 90 mil torcedores podem se espremer, o empate entre Monterrey (México) e Inter de Milão (Itália) teve apenas 45%: 40.311.
A primeira Copa de Clubes acontece em um país que ainda não abraça o futebol e tem cultura mais forte em outros esportes, mesmo sendo sede da Copa de seleções de 2026.
