Após somar quatro pontos em dois jogos, o Palmeiras entrou em campo diante do Inter Miami em uma situação confortável. Precisando apenas do empate para seguir rumo ao mata-mata do Mundial, a equipe paulista fez uma partida abaixo das expectativas, motivo pelo qual o respiro de alívio veio apenas no segundo tempo com as entradas de Maurício e Paulinho, responsáveis pelo empate por 2 a 2.
Logo no início, o Palmeiras levou perigo com Gustavo Gómez, de cabeça, mas pecou nas demais investidas iniciais. Neste cenário, aproveitando a melhor chance do primeiro tempo, Allende calou os torcedores brasileiros presentes no estádio. Correndo atrás de empatar o jogo, o Palmeiras teve mudança no segundo tempo. Sem brilhar em campo, Raphael Veiga e Facundo Torres foram substituídos por Maurício e Paulinho. Porém, o impacto esperado não foi visto imediatamente. Do outro lado, em jogada espetacular, Luis Suárez mostrou que, aos 38 anos, nunca pode ser subestimado. Superando a marcação adversária ao fazer fila, o uruguaio anotou um golaço e deixou o Verdão em situação desesperadora.

Maurício tira o Palmeiras do sufoco
Com o tempo de reação ficando reduzido, Paulinho chamou a responsabilidade. Aproveitando uma das poucas tramas ofensivas do Palmeiras que apresentaram sucesso, o camisa 10, por meio de uma finalização sutil, colocou o time alviverde de volta ao jogo. Consequentemente, o público do Verdão no Hard Rock Stadium foi ao delírio.

Sem desperdiçar uma bola que se ofereceu para ser chutada, o meia-atacante não deu chances para Ustari, que ficou parado no meio do gol. Diante do empate, houve uma maior tranquilidade em relação aos acontecimentos do eletrizante Al Ahly 4 x 4 Palmeiras.
