Die deutschen Junioren spielen am Dienstag (21 Uhr/Dyn) gegen Ägypten bei der U21-Handball-WM in Polen um den Einzug ins Viertelfinale.
Im Spiel gegen Favorit Spanien (am Ende 35:35) hatte die Mannschaft von Bundestrainer Martin Heuberger (61) die K.o-Runde schon fast erreicht, doch zwei Rote Karten, eine böse Verletzung und ein 15 Minuten langer Stromausfall haben das verhindert (SPORT BILD berichtete).

Eine Sieben-Tore-Führung (29:22/43.) konnte die stark dezimierte deutsche Mannschaft mit dem Unentschieden zum Ende noch retten.

Auch für Coach Heuberger kein gewöhnliches Spiel. Der Bundestrainer verrät. „Ich habe selten so ein kurioses Spiel erlebt wie gegen Spanien. Zwei Rote Karten gleich zum Anfang, der Stromausfall und die Verletzung von Max Günther, wir standen plötzlich ohne Linkshänder da. Es sind so viele Dinge auf dem Spielfeld passiert, das war schon unglaublich.“

Und Heuberger gibt vor, wie die Deutschen sich das Viertelfinale schnappen wollen: „Jetzt kommt es darauf an, wie hoch die Spanier, wenn überhaupt, gegen die Schweiz gewinnen. Wir haben momentan jetzt ein Torverhältnis von plus zehn. Die Spanier sind im Moment, glaube ich, bei minus eins. Wir werden da keine Rechenschieber rausholen. Wir wollen es sportlich lösen, wollen ein gutes Spiel machen. Und alles andere interessiert uns eigentlich gar nicht so sehr.“

Dort würden dann Portugal oder Schweden auf die deutsche Mannschaft warten.
