O Palmeiras está nas oitavas de final da Copa do Mundo de Clubes da Fifa, onde enfrentará o Botafogo no sábado (28). Mas o desempenho do time em campo ainda não chegou ao patamar desejado pela torcida. ainda mais depois do empate com o Inter Miami.

Até o Verdão empatar o jogo e salvar a classificação, o time vinha fazendo uma atuação muito abaixo e sofrendo diante do time de Messi e Suárez. Tanto que até Abel Ferreira admitiu que o primeiro tempo do Verdão contra os americanos não foi aquele ao qual esperava de seus comandados dentro de campo, a principal parte criticada dos palmeirenses.

‘Precisa voltar a surpreender’

Mas será que o treinador estaria ‘devendo’ neste Mundial de Clubes? Para Arnaldo Ribeiro, o desempenho de Abel à frente do Verdão neste momento ‘não vem sendo bom’ e que o comandante palmeirense tem de ‘voltar a surpreender’ para poder embalar na competição e também no resto da temporada.

“A gente vê que o trabalho do Abel, melhor técnico do Brasil em atividade, o maior técnico da história do Palmeiras, não vem sendo bom nos últimos tempos. Não vem sendo bom, ponto. Ele precisa de mais, ele precisa ser superior ao (Renato) Paiva, depois ao Filipe Luís, ao (Leonardo) Jardim, ao Dorival Júnior. Ele precisa voltar a nos surpreender positivamente”, disse Arnaldo no G4, do Bandsports.

“Como ele fez com o River (Plate, na Libertadores 2020), com o Flamengo. O que o Abel está fazendo é mais do mesmo, é até pior que mais do mesmo”, completou o comentarista.

Ficou ‘pedindo autógrafo’?

Dentre os pontos aos quais o comentarista criticou Abel foi o fato de que o time não conseguiu fazer qualquer tipo de marcação mais forte sobre Messi durante a partida. Em tom de brincadeira, Arnaldo Ribeiro disse que o treinador palmeirense, com tal atitude, ‘pediu autógrafo’ para o craque argentino.

“Quem pediu autógrafo para o Messi foi o Abel Ferreira. O Palmeiras não fez uma falta, nem desarme nele no jogo todo. O Messi, na primeira vacilada daquele número oito lá, ele deu o ‘rapa’ no (Raphael) Veiga e tomou o amarelo”, disse.
