Ontem, John Textor e Mickaël Gerlinger, diretor de futebol do clube francês, foram ouvidos pelo órgão com o intuito de afastar a ameaça de descenso, que havia sido anunciada em novembro passado.
Porém, as garantias apresentadas pelo clube para melhorar a situação financeira e o pagamento da dívida de cerca de 175 milhões de euros (a dívida total da holding chega a 500 milhões de euros, segundo a imprensa francesa) não convenceram a entidade, que decidiu oficializar o rebaixamento do clube.

O Lyon reconheceu a “decisão incompreensível” da DNCG e afirmou que vai recorrer imediatamente para mudar a decisão em primeira instância.
Após a decisão do DNCG, os torcedores do Lyon foram às ruas da cidade protestar contra John Textor. A torcida organizada, Bad Gones, uma das principais do time francês, colocou diversas faixas pela cidade pedindo a saída do empresário americano.
