O Botafogo se despediu da Copa do Mundo de Clubes da FIFA após derrota por 1 a 0 para o Palmeiras, na prorrogação, neste sábado (28), na Filadélfia. Apesar da eliminação, o técnico Renato Paiva se mostrou orgulhoso da atuação dos jogadores e destacou o equilíbrio do confronto como fator decisivo.
Em coletiva após a partida, Renato Paiva reforçou que sua equipe demonstrou competitividade e entrega ao longo dos 120 minutos. Para o treinador, os detalhes pesaram na definição da vaga, e o Palmeiras soube aproveitar melhor as oportunidades.

Segundo Renato Paiva, o Alvinegro não teve um bom início de jogo, mas reagiu na etapa final e terminou o tempo regulamentar com maior controle das ações ofensivas. “Começamos abaixo do que poderíamos, mas terminamos com a bola e no campo adversário. Faltou o gol. Foi um jogo decidido nos detalhes, como eu já havia alertado”, explicou o comandante.
Paiva destacou ainda a paciência da equipe para lidar com a pressão da partida e não escondeu o orgulho pela atuação. “Os jogadores deixaram tudo em campo. Estou muito orgulhoso do que fizemos. É doloroso ser eliminado, mas saímos de cabeça erguida”, completou.
Gol de Paulinho selou a classificação palmeirense
O único gol do jogo foi marcado por Paulinho, no início do primeiro tempo da prorrogação. O atacante aproveitou uma das poucas falhas defensivas do Botafogo para definir o placar e garantir a vaga do Verdão nas quartas de final. Apesar de pressionar até o fim, o Glorioso não conseguiu igualar o marcador.
Agora, o Palmeiras aguarda seu próximo adversário, enquanto o Botafogo retorna ao Brasil e foca suas atenções no segundo semestre da temporada.
