Only a select few, like Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Joe Montana, or Patrick Mahomes, understand the relentless dedication needed to etch their names into the league’s history books. Last season, Barkley rushed for 2,005 yards – a remarkable achievement given the challenges that come with an NFL season. However, he wants to achieve or surpass that same mark for the upcoming season, becoming the first NFL player to surpass 2,000 yards in two consecutive seasons.

Saquon Barkley has made no secret of his passion for golf, often showcasing his growing knowledge of the game. During a recent round with professional golfer Grant Horvat, the Eagles running back reflected on how golf has helped shape his mental approach to football.
“Obviously getting into golf, falling in love with golf, I’ve been trying to learn so much more about Tiger,” Barkley said, emphasizing how the sport’s demands for focus and discipline have influenced his mindset.
Barkley also praised Woods for his ability to maintain peak performance over multiple seasons, a level of consistency the running back hopes to emulate. “In 2000, an amazing year, but in 1999, he had an amazing year too, right?” Barkley noted.
Connecting Woods’ sustained excellence to his ambitions, Barkley highlighted the unprecedented NFL milestone he’s chasing: “There’s never been a back rush for 2,000 yards twice, and not back-to-back.”
Barkley also reflected on his historic 2024 campaign, where he felt confident about his performance, “think it’s just like the confidence, right? I think when you have a year like I had last year, like I’m coming into this season, into my training, that’s like it’s not a fluke, right?”
For Barkley, the mission is clear: help the Eagles defend their Super Bowl title and etch his name in the record books in the process. Achieving both would mark an important moment in his career.
