Pro české basketbalistky je konečná šestá příčka nejlepším umístěním na ME od roku 2013, ale během duelu s Německem už viditelně moc nevěděly, co si mohou na palubovce dovolit a jak tvrdě mohou hrát. Zatímco samy měly k dispozici pouze osm trestných hodů, protože soupeřkám tvrdost u rozhodčích procházela, takřka každý český zákrok byl posouzen jako nedovolený.
„Rozhodně nemám pocit, že pojetí hry by bylo tak odlišné, že bychom udělaly o deset faulů víc než soupeřky. Metr sudích bylo těžké pochopit. Němky pořád házely trestné hody, tam byl opravdu velký rozdíl, který se těžko doháněl,“ litovala Ptáčková po prohře.
České hráčky střídaly dobré momenty se špatnými, Německo si ale při umožnění tvrdého stylu hry vytvářelo kontinuální tlak směřující do vymezeného území. Nakonec střílelo neuvěřitelných 31 trestných hodů a přes 87 procent jich proměnilo.
Němky chodily tvrdě do koše, Češky naopak hrály dál od něj, jenže úspěšnost trojek měly pouze čtvrtinovou. Ve prospěch soupeřek podle vyjádření Petry Holešínské pro ČTK hovořily fyzické parametry. „Když se podíváme na německý tým, jak vypadá, tak my jsme proti nim trošku jako malé holčičky. Ony jsou všechny takové urostlé, od toho všeho se odvíjel i nějaký tlak na míč,“ uvedla.
Českému týmu i přes veškeré odhodlání trochu docházela energie, navíc chyběla zraněná Stoupalová. Reisingerová při potížích s achilovkou hrála se sebezapřením a bolístky měly i další opory. „Bohužel se projevilo i to, že řada hráček nenastupovala v ideálním zdravotním stavu. Zaslouží ale velký kredit za maximální bojovnost, i když Německo mělo výškovou převahu, prohrálo na doskoky. My asi potřebovaly větší produktivitu v útočné fázi. Vypracovaly jsme si velké množství volných střel, bohužel jsme nebyly tak úspěšné, jak bychom chtěly,“ uvažovala Ptáčková.
„Se šestým místem v konečném účtování ale musíme být spokojené, i když víme, že to mohlo dopadnout přece jen lépe. Stačilo k tomu velmi málo, pořád je to ale ještě nějaký krok, k němž musí družstvo uzrát. Myslím, že i z letošní zkušenosti se může poučit, aby třeba už v březnové kvalifikaci mistrovství světa bylo zase lepší a otevřelo si cestu na další velký turnaj,“ uzavřela Ptáčková.
