O Grêmio é a primeira equipe da Série A do Campeonato Brasileiro a voltar a disputar uma partida oficial após a pausa para o Mundial de Clubes. Na próxima terça-feira, dia 8 de julho, ainda durante a Copa do Mundo de Clubes, o Imortal enfrenta o São José pela Recopa Gaúcha.
Pensando na decisão, o técnico Mano Menezes tem utilizado a intertemporada para preparar a equipe e definir a escalação para o jogo. Segundo o jornalista Leonardo Müller, o treino deste sábado (5) pode indicar os 11 titulares que enfrentarão o adversário, que disputa a Série D do Brasileirão.

De acordo com Müller, o time titular que foi a campo no CT Luiz Carvalho contou com:
Tiago Volpi; Igor Serrote, Wagner Leonardo, Kannemann e Lucas Esteves; Cuéllar, Villasanti, Alex Santana (Amuzu) e Cristaldo; Alysson e André Henrique.
As principais novidades ficaram por conta dos retornos de Igor Serrote e Mathías Villasanti, ambos preservados e ausentes no jogo-treino contra o Aimoré, na última semana.
Os desfalques do Grêmio
Mano Menezes não pôde contar com dois jogadores importantes do setor ofensivo: Martin Braithwaite e Cristian Oliveira. O dinamarquês ainda sente dores no tornozelo, não vem treinando, e, por isso, é dúvida para a partida de terça. Já o uruguaio sofreu um acidente doméstico, uma queimadura no pé causada por água quente, segundo informações de Müller.
Outros dois jogadores que vinham sendo titulares também não estão treinando entre os 11 iniciais por decisão de Mano. O lateral-esquerdo Marlon e o volante Dodi. Como ambos não poderão enfrentar o Cruzeiro, no dia 13 de julho, o treinador tem optado por preparar a equipe sem a dupla. Arezo também é outro que ficou fora por opção devido a negociação em andamento com o Penãrol.
