De Souza fue acusado de apuñalar y matar a Carla Fabrete, de 25 años, en la tienda de teléfonos móviles de su familia en la ciudad de Vila Velha, a unos 450 kilómetros al norte de Río de Janeiro.

“Durante el interrogatorio, declaró que había salido de casa ese día para agredir a alguien, pero que esa persona era una mujer, porque era un ser más vulnerable. Pudimos demostrar que el agresor eligió a la víctima al azar; sin embargo, esta aleatoriedad influye en la motivación del crimen… Cuando ve la tienda de la víctima, regresa, la analiza y continúa, y poco después regresa con el subterfugio de que era cliente”, declaró Raffaela Aguiar, jefa de la Policía Civil.
“Al principio pensamos que se arrepentía, pero cuando comenzaron las preguntas sobre los motivos del crimen, se mostró frío y calculador”, compartió Aguiar.

Las autoridades brasileñas confirmaron que Wenderson de Souza, que en sus redes sociales se presentaba técnico en enfermería, fotógrafo, poeta, animador de eventos, entrenador personal y trabajador social, había sido arrestado anteriormente por violencia doméstica contra varias novias.
De Souza ya cumplió una condena en prisión de marzo de 2018 a julio de 2019 por intento de robo de un coche y violencia doméstica.
