Ancelotti es un gran especialista en llegar hasta el final y salir airoso. Lo ha hecho con el Real Madrid hasta en 13 ocasiones desde que ganó la final de Lisboa y solo se le ha escapado un partido, el de los octavos de la Copa ante el Atlético en El Metropolitano en la temporada 23-24 tras caer 4-2 en la media hora añadida. Como dato más que significativo, el italiano tuvo que abandonar el Madrid para sucumbir en una prórroga. Fue como entrenador del Bayern, en los ya mencionados cuartos de final de la Champions de la 16-17 con Zidane en el banquillo del Bernabéu.
