Beloved by many Taylor Swift fans, Travis Kelce’s latest move has left the fiercely loyal “Swifties” reeling. Despite being admired as Swift’s significant other, his recent actions on social media are causing a serious rift with the pop star’s devoted following.
Although Swift and Kelce have been keeping a low profile since Super Bowl LIX, sources suggest the couple’s low-key approach isn’t tied to the Chiefs’ loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. Instead, they reportedly want to enjoy their relationship in peace, away from the public eye.
Swift, fresh off her marathon Eras Tour, is taking a well-earned rest. Kelce, meanwhile, has been busy with off-season activities, including co-hosting the popular New Heights podcast alongside his brother, Jason Kelce. Ironically, it’s this very podcast that’s landed him in hot water with Swifties.
Why the Swifties are angry
On April 9, the New Heights podcast account on X (formerly Twitter) shared a poll created by Wondery, the podcast’s affiliated network. Fans who completed the poll were entered to win a personalized New Heights jersey. But instead of excitement, the survey provoked outrage.
According to several fans, the poll included questions that were overly focused on Kelce’s relationship with Swift and mentioned her name far too frequently for comfort.
“The questions about Taylor and their relationship are so weird and gross,” one fan complained. “What’s the goal here? If enough people choose those, will Wondery force Travis to talk about Taylor and their private life? These questions should be removed.”
Fans also accused Wondery of exploiting the attention Swifties bring to the podcast. Some went so far as to brand the Kelce brothers as “clout-chasers.”
What’s next?
So far, Travis Kelce has not responded to the backlash, and the post remains online. At the time of writing, it has amassed 155,000 views, 70 comments, 486 likes, and 47 shares. Some fans speculate that Kelce and his brother might address the controversy in an upcoming podcast episode.
For now, Travis and Taylor appear committed to keeping their private life under wraps. Whether this misstep will affect their relationship remains to be seen. Swifties, however, are watching closely-and they’re not a group to be underestimated.
