El Athletic lo tiene claro. Jesús Areso tiene que regresar a Lezama este verano. Nadie en el club rojiblanco tiene dudas al respecto y MARCA ha podido saber que están dispuestos a abonar los doce millones de euros de su cláusula de rescisión. Osasuna, que siempre se ha mantenido firme, se llevó al jugador gratis total y ahora podría ingresar una buena cantidad y además cumpliría su promesa de no rebajar ni un euros el precio del jugador. Este fin de semana, en el choque entre vascos y navarros, se habló mucho del defensor deseo del Athletic para reforzarse de cara a la temporada que viene.
Los de Valverde han hecho los deberes y tienen muy a mano meterse la próxima campaña en la Champions. El equipo pierde a De Marcos y en Champions el precio de Areso es más que asumible y compartirá lateral con Gorosabel y Rincón (ahora mismo cedido en el Mirandés). Se trata de un fichaje sí o sí del Athletic y Osasuna ya sabe que habrá precio de cláusula para cerrar la operación. Hay otros clubes que han realizado seguimiento del futbolista, si bien ninguno ha trasladado una oferta formal. El Athletic quiere a Areso y está dispuesto a pagar los 12 kilos de su cláusula y no tener que esperar hasta junio de 2026.
El último año de Areso en Lezama no fue sencillo. Estuvo en el Bilbao Athletic de Etxeberria, pero no jugó por decisión del club al negarse a renovar en las condiciones que le había puesto encima de la mesa el Athletic. Su regreso será diferente. En el partido de este fin de semana se le vio muy buen rollo con muchos de los que seguramente serán sus compañeros como Sancet o Nico. Se trata de una operación que ya está en marcha y que se certificará cuando termine la temporada.
