Fran González tiene todas las papeletas para ser el portero del Real Madrid ante el Valencia este sábado en el Santiago Bernabéu (16.15 horas). Sería su debut en partido oficial en el primer equipo, con solo 19 años, aunque Ancelotti está tranquilo y su obsesión ahora es recuperar a Courtois para el partido del martes ante el Arsenal en Londres. Lunin tiene molestias y está también casi descartado para este partido.
La tranquilidad de Ancelotti para este partido se explica fácil. Y es que este guardameta, que vino de la Cultural Leonesa en el verano de 2022, cautivó a Luis Llopis, el preparador del porteros del primer equipo y que fue quien le trajo al club blanco, y al propio Carletto, hasta el punto de que ambos acordaron hace dos pretemporadas que se entrenara a lo largo de toda la campaña con el primer equipo y que después jugará bien con el Juvenil A, tras hacerlo en el B en su primer año, o en el Madrid C. El objetivo era tenerle cerca porque están ambos convencidos de que puede ser el dueño de la portería del Bernabéu en unos años.
El problema, sin embargo, surgió esta temporada con la incorporación de Fran González al Castilla tras su excelente papel en el Europeo sub 19 y en la gira por Estados Unidos con el primer equipo. Empezó de titular con Raúl, pero fue perdiendo el puesto, algo que inquietaba en el club y entre los responsables del primer equipo, que habían decidido hace poco que el canterano se instalara ya en el día a día con el filial para evitar que se quedara sin minutos. Fran se cayó del once justo antes del parón navideño y en este 2025 pasó a un segundo plano hasta el pasado 21 de marzo, cuando Raúl le colocó de nuevo bajo los palos ante el Murcia y a la jornada siguiente contra el Yeclano. Para el duelo ante el Valencia de mañana llega por tanto con algo de rodaje, y eso es también un punto a su favor.

No ha sido fácil para Raúl, no obstante, contar con un portero que entra en la lista de convocados de Ancelotti esta misma campaña con mucha asiduidad, bien como tercer portero o por las lesiones de Courtois o Lunin. De los 29 encuentros de Liga, el meta ha estado en el banquillo hasta en 19 de ellos. En los doce partidos de Champions que se llevan disputados, ha ido en ocho, sin olvidar el pleno con los cinco de Copa del Rey. Carlo ha intentado recientemente prescindir más de él para que juegue con el Castilla, pero a veces las lesiones no le han dejado.
Con 1,99 de altura, es un portero muy seguro y que impresiona en sus salidas. Durante la última gira del Madrid por Estados Unidos, el entrenador confesaba a gente de su entorno que Fran le recordaba a Buffon, que vivió una historia que el canterano del Madrid soñará con que se repita. Y es Carlo fue quien hizo debutar muy joven a Gigi en el Parma. Sus caminos se encontraron y el respeto y admiración entre ambos es mutuo.
“Si Scala tuvo la locura de hacerme debutar muy joven, Carlo lo hizo aún más. Dos meses después de su llegada me hizo escalar jerarquías y me puso por delante de Bucchi, portero de la selección. Me convertí en titular después y en cinco o seis partidos me consagré. Es al entrenador que más le debo”, recordaba Buffon el año pasado. El italiano tenía por aquel entonces 17 años. Fran tiene ahora 19 y sabe que repetir la hazaña es complicado con Courtois de maestro y como referencia para él, pero su sueño de triunfar en el Madrid sigue intacto. El Valencia, y en el Bernabéu, puede ser un buen primer paso.
