Die Ostsee-Derbys zwischen dem THW Kiel und der SG Flensburg-Handewitt stecken jede Saison voller Brisanz.

Samstag (19.30 Uhr, live bei Dyn/Anzeige) wird eine Liga tiefer allerdings ein Lokal-Derby angeworfen, das den deutschen Handball und seine Fans schon seit Jahrzehnten in seinen Bann zieht.

GWD Minden trifft auf den TuS N-Lübbecke, früher hieß diese Paarung Grün-Weiß Dankersen gegen TuS Nettelstedt.

Jetzt steigt Deutschlands heißestes Handball-Derby

Die Hallen beider Klubs sind gerade mal 21,8 Kilometer voneinander entfernt – wobei die Mindener derzeit gar keine eigene Heimat haben. Ihre Kampa-Halle wird seit April 2023 saniert.

Daraus entsteht die erste Brisanz: GWD muss seitdem seine Heimspiele ausgerechnet in der Halle des Erzfeindes austragen. Heißt: Samstag hat Minden auswärts „Heimrecht“ gegen den TuS. Übrigens, zum letzten Mal – im Sommer wird die Kampa-Halle nach der dann abgeschlossenen Sanierung wiedereröffnet.

Mindens Geschäftsführer Nils Torbrügge (32) hat trotzdem einen sehnlichen Wunsch: „Schon allein aus historischen Gründen wollen wir auch das zweite Zweitliga-Derby in Folge gegen den TuS N-Lübbecke in Lübbecke gewinnen.“

[–>Die zweite Brisanz ist anhand der Tabelle der 2. Liga erkennbar. Minden hat als Tabellenzweiter gute Aussichten, in die Daikin Handball-Bundesliga zurückzukehren. Der TuS N-Lübbecke dagegen hat nur noch einen Punkt Vorsprung auf den VfL Lübeck-Schwartau, der den ersten Abstiegsplatz belegt.

Der Hass zwischen Minden und Nettelstedt besteht seit vielen Jahrzehnten, vor allem der Name eines ehemaligen Weltklasse-Handballers befeuerte ihn: Herbert Lübking (inzwischen 83).

Lübking war bis 1970 Mindener Handball-Volksheld, bis er ein lukratives Angebot des damaligen Kreisligisten (!) TuS Nettelstedt annahm. Die Folgen des lokalen Fronten-Wechsels waren dramatisch.

Bei Lübking wurden Fenster eingeworfen, er bekam Morddrohungen, sein Sohn André (damals drei Jahre alt) wurde sogar einen Tag entführt.

Zuletzt hat sich Lübking dazu im Handball-Podcast „Erste 7“ von Jens Westen und Martin Schwalb geäußert: „Zu meiner Zeit war die Rivalität zwischen den Vereinen, gerade unter den Spielern, sehr schlimm. Ich möchte nicht mehr über die Vergangenheit sprechen. Für meine Familie war es eine Katastrophe. Mit Morddrohungen und einer Entführung. Zum Glück haben sich die Zeiten geändert. Heutzutage treffe ich mich sowohl mit den einen, als auch mit den anderen.“

Samstag wird der Ex-Nationalspieler (118 Länderspiele in der Halle, 21 auf dem Großfeld) in der nahezu ausverkauften Lübbecker Kreissporthalle auf der Tribüne sitzen. Sein Wunsch: „Mir wäre es am liebsten, wenn Dankersen am Ende der Saison aufsteigt und Nettelstedt nicht absteigt. Möge der Bessere gewinnen.“
