Marta García se recupera de uno de los sustos más grandes de su vida. Todo por un accidente el sábado durante la primera carrera de la Le Mans Cup, bautizada como Michelin Le Mans Cup, en Barcelona. La de Denia, que llevaba un GT3 que comparte con Vanina Ickx, hija del mítico Jacky Ickx, fue embestida por detrás por otro competidor, Eliseo Donno, cuando iba primera en su categoría.
La carrera tuvo que pararse tras el violento choque de su vehículo y, aunque por su propio pie, debió ser ayudada por los comisarios. De inmediato, fue trasladada a un hospital. Allí le hicieron pruebas y pasó la noche.
El alivio del equipo
Su propio conjunto, el Iron Dames, formado por mujeres piloto, quiso tranquilizar a todos con un comunicado. “Nos complace confirmar que Marta García se recupera satisfactoriamente tras el incidente ocurrido ayer en la carrera de la Michelin Le Mans Cup. Tras someterse a exhaustivos exámenes médicos, se le ha dado el alta de lesiones graves y ya ha recuperado la sonrisa. Como medida de precaución, permaneció en observación durante la noche y se le realizará una evaluación de seguimiento hoy. Agradecemos a los equipos médicos de pista y del hospital, así como a todos los aficionados por su apoyo. La salud y la seguridad de Marta siguen siendo nuestra máxima prioridad, y esperamos verla pronto de vuelta en la pista”, decía.

Expresó sus sentimientos
La propia Marta García, en su cuenta de Instagram, ha expuesto, más tarde, cómo está. “Hola a todos, ayer viví uno de los momentos más duros de mi carrera. Tuve un accidente muy fuerte en el Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, con un impacto de 21G. Otro piloto me impactó por detrás y me estrellé contra una barrera de neumáticos junto al muro. El coche se incendió y, aunque logré salir sola, inhalé humo y me mareé. No podía abrir la puerta porque estaba atascada por el impacto y empecé a entrar en pánico al ver que entraba más y más humo en el coche… hasta que los comisarios rompieron la puerta del copiloto y me sacaron”, escribió. Lo acompañó de una foto suya en el centro hospitalario.
