El Manchester City vive una temporada completamente inusual desde la llegada de Pep Guardiola. Eliminados en las primeras de cambio en la Copa de la Liga, fuera de Champions tras haber sido vapuleados por el Real Madrid y quintos en la Premier League, los Citizens únicamente se mantienen con vida en la FA Cup para no acabar el año en blanco.
Guardiola es consciente de la irregularidad de los Sky Blues a lo largo del curso 2024-25 y en una entrevista con Sky Sports ha señalado que de no contar con los éxitos conseguidos recientemente con el City, ya habría sido despedido por cualquier otro club.
“En otros clubes, sin el éxito reciente, me habrían despedido, definitivamente. Este es un gran club y hay que hacer buenas cosas”, dijo el nacido en Santpedor horas antes de enfrentarse al Manchester United en un derbi en donde buscan el triunfo parameterse en puestos de Champions League.

“En otro club, en otro entorno, perdimos muchos partidos grandes, eso no puede pasar. Pero afortunadamente, la directiva me dio su voto de confianza para continuar”, agregó Pep.
Pep confía en que la próxima temporada sea mejor para el Manchester City.
Guardiola señaló que el fútbol es de momentos y confía que para la próxima temporada el Manchester City pueda volver a su mejor versión.
“Han pasado tantas cosas. Lo que pasó esta temporada no significa que vaya a pasar la próxima. Ojalá la próxima no sea como esta. Claro que tenemos que cambiar cosas, sin duda. Pero la próxima temporada será mejor”, confío el técnico citizen.
Afectados por las lesiones
Pep Guardiola también indicó que una de las principales razones de la crisis que ha vivido el Manchester City esta temporada tiene mucho que ver con las lesiones de varias piezas claves. Durante el curso, los Citizens han sufrido bajas como las de Rodri, John Stones, Erling Haaland o Kovacic en momentos puntuales del año.
“Una de las principales razones ha sido la ausencia de muchos jugadores lesionados en departamentos importantes, por lo que estábamos compitiendo en el periodo más difícil con solo 12 o 13 jugadores del primer equipo”, mencionó.
“Es difícil jugar así cada tres días. Antes, cuando ganábamos mucho, también teníamos muchos problemas. No tantos como esta temporada, pero sí muchos. Siempre supimos remontar y superar la situación”, remarcó Pep.
