This situation led the couple to seek a more independent and secure life outside the UK, so they even changed their residence to the United States.
The impact of family tensions on the Duke and Duchess of Sussex
The Duke of Sussex is currently in a legal dispute with the Home Office over the level of taxpayer-funded security he should receive during his visits to the UK.
In addition, family tensions, particularly with King Charles III and Prince William, also played a role in his decision. Experts point out that Harry struggled with his role as the “spare” in the royal family, which affected his family relationships and emotional well-being.
Five years after their departure, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex reside in Montecito, California, where they have built a life focused on their family and personal projects. Although they have expressed a desire for reconciliation, relations with the royal family remain complex and distant.
