The tragedy that occurred at the Jet Set nightclub, located in Santo Domingo, has left the country in shock. In the early hours of the morning, the roof of the famous nightclub collapsed during a concert, claiming the lives of at least 218 people, including two former Major League Baseball players, Octavio Dotel and Tony Blanco. The terrible event has shocked both the local and international community, especially those close to the baseball world.
Juan Soto, a renowned Major League Baseball player, reacted quickly to this tragedy with an emotional message on his Instagram account. The young player, who has always been a role model for his country, expressed his sorrow as he joined the suffering of the families affected by the loss. “With a broken heart, I join the pain of the families of our country for the tragedy that occurred in Jet Set,” said Soto, highlighting the magnitude of the tragedy and how it affects the whole nation.

At a time when words seem insufficient in the face of such tragedy, the baseball player called for strength and resilience from those affected. “In such difficult times, words fall short, but I want you to know that my heart and our prayers are with each and every one of you,” he added in his post. He also extended his prayers to the victims, praying for strength and conformity to get through the deep pain that the tragedy has left behind.
Soto also took the opportunity to thank the rescue agencies and volunteers for their tireless work, highlighting the bravery and dedication of those who continue to search for survivors. “To our aid agencies, rescuers and volunteers, I extend my thanks for being at the foot of the canyon with our people. God bless you always and keep you safe,” he wrote, highlighting the importance of teamwork during these difficult times.
This incident has not only impacted the families of the victims, but has also touched the hearts of the sporting community, especially because of the loss of two beloved baseball figures such as Octavio Dotel and Tony Blanco.
