With the 2025 NFL Draft fast approaching, speculation around this year’s quarterback class is intensifying, and not everyone is impressed. Former NFL quarterback Chase Daniel, who spent 14 seasons in the league, including time with the Kansas City Chiefs, delivered a blunt assessment of two of the most talked-about prospects: Shedeur Sanders and Jaxson Dart.
Speaking on his “Scoop City” podcast, Daniel made it clear he doesn’t believe either quarterback is a long-term solution under center. “These guys aren’t franchise decade players,” he said, referring to both Sanders and Dart. “If you’re unsure of them, take the best player available. Don’t reach just because you need a quarterback.”

A call for patience and perspective
Daniel emphasized that building a team around a quarterback requires much more than raw talent-it demands a leader with staying power. His comments suggest that teams like the Browns, Saints, or Raiders may want to hold off on handing the keys to their offense to any of the 2025 QB hopefuls.
Instead, he floated a different strategy: trading for proven players like Kirk Cousins or Kenny Pickett, if a team needs a quick fix. “Go get two guys that can get the job done right now,” Daniel said, implying that the current draft class may not be the place to find long-term success at the position.
Dart’s busy schedule, Sanders still in the mix
Despite the criticism, interest in Jaxson Dart remains high. ESPN insider Adam Schefter reported that Dart has already met with multiple teams including the Cleveland Browns, Las Vegas Raiders, New York Giants, New Orleans Saints, and Los Angeles Rams. According to Todd McShay’s latest mock draft, Dart could land with the Saints at No. 9, while Shedeur Sanders is projected to go to the Browns at No. 15.
Still, Daniel’s comments cast a shadow over the buzz surrounding both players. While Cam Ward is widely expected to go first overall to the Titans, the future is far less certain for Sanders and Dart.
With teams weighing potential versus production, Daniel’s candid remarks might echo in more than a few draft war rooms this April.
