Fast wäre die Zeit von Marc-André ter Stegen (32) beim FC Barcelona ganz schnell wieder vorbei gewesen. Im Jahr 2014 wechselte der Torhüter aus Gladbach zum spanischen Top-Klub. Aber nur zwei Jahre später stand er schon wieder vorm Abschied. Das hat der Nationalkeeper jetzt im Fußball-Podcast „Phrasenmäher“ verraten.
Im Sommer 2016 wäre ter Stegen fast bei Star-Trainer Pep Guadiola (54) und Manchester City gelandet. Der Torwart: „Es war tatsächlich so, dass wir darüber nachgedacht haben, den Verein zu wechseln. Es war ein Moment, in dem ich nicht zufrieden war mit der Situation bei Barça, da ich – auch wenn wir viele Titel gesammelt haben – in der Liga nicht gespielt hatte (sondern Claudio Bravo). 25 oder 28 Spiele pro Saison in den Pokalwettbewerben waren mir nicht mehr genug. Ich wollte schon die klare Nummer 1 sein.“
Ter Stegen verrät: So lief mein Geheim-Treffen mit Guardiola
Guardiola wollte ihn damals unbedingt zu Manchester City holen. Ter Stegen: „Wir hatten sogar ein Treffen in Barcelona. Pep ist hierhergeflogen, und dann haben wir uns in einer Wohnung von einem Freund getroffen. Er hat mir seine Ideen erklärt und dass er ab Sommer bei Man City sein wird und mich gern haben möchte. Pep hat sich wirklich sehr bemüht. Ich habe dann darüber nachgedacht und mir gesagt, dass das die Lösung für mein Problem sein könnte und dass sich der Plan, den sie bei City haben, sehr interessant anhört. Wenn man die letzten Jahre gesehen hat, ist er ja auch voll aufgegangen.“
Barça ließ ter Stegen aber nicht gehen: „Ich bin irgendwann zu Luis Enrique gegangen und habe ihm gesagt, dass ich bitte die Freigabe von ihm haben möchte. Und er hat geantwortet: ‚Ich werde dich auf keinen Fall freigeben!‘ Er meinte auch, dass er dem Klub sagen werde, dass er mich auf keinen Fall abgeben soll. Ich habe geantwortet, dass ich das auf der einen Seite sehr zu schätzen weiß, auf der anderen Seite aber die Nummer 1 sein möchte. Als er dann sagte, dass wir mal gucken sollen, wie die Vorbereitung läuft, bin ich fast aus der Haut gefahren, konnte mich aber noch kontrollieren. Ich habe nur gesagt: Pass auf, das ist jetzt mein Wunsch, und ich werde auch zum Präsidium gehen und wollte dich nur informieren.“
Und dann? Ter Stegen: „Auch das Präsidium sagte, dass sie mich auf keinen Fall freigeben – und dann, ich glaube, drei Wochen später, hat Pep meinen Mitspieler Claudio Bravo zu Man City geholt. Das war erst mal komisch, aber am Ende bin ich sehr, sehr glücklich, da ich ja eigentlich gar nicht wegwollte und dann die Nummer 1 wurde.“

Clay Webb, who is part of an unresolved lawsuit around bullying, signed with the Denver Broncos as an undrafted free agent. Jacksonville State, where Webb played for the last three seasons, announced the news Saturday night.
