Fan-Zuspruch und Leistung klafften bei den Kölner Haien lange auseinander. Nachdem man jahrelang beim Zuschauerschnitt hinter dem SC Bern die Nummer 2 in Europa war, ist Köln seit zwei Jahren die Nummer 1: In der Saison 2023/24 kamen im Schnitt 16 993 Fans, in dieser Saison 17 829. Damit lassen die Kölner sogar 14 von 32 NHL-Klubs hinter sich.
Eskalation nach dem Spiel: Irre Party-Show von Eishockey-Torwart
Nach vielen sportlichen Enttäuschungen, darunter die historische Niederlagenserie von 17 Spielen in der Saison 2019/20, werden die Haie-Fans endlich für ihre Treue belohnt. Zum ersten Mal seit 2014 steht Köln im DEL-Finale und spielt dort ab Donnerstag gegen Titelverteidiger Eisbären Berlin.
Der Höhenflug ist vor allem ein Verdienst von Julius Hudacek (36). Der slowakische Torhüter wurde Anfang Oktober nach der Verletzung von Tobias Ancicka (24) nachverpflichtet und schlug auf Anhieb ein. In den Play-offs wehrte er von allen DEL-Torhütern die meisten Schüsse (322) ab, vor allem im Halbfinale brachte er Vorrundensieger Ingolstadt zur Verzweiflung.
Doch Hudacek ist nicht nur ein exzellenter Torhüter, er ist auch die Stimmungskanone in Köln. Nach jedem wichtigen Sieg zieht er auf dem Eis seine „Huda-Show“ ab: Mal klettert er im Silvesterparty-Outfit auf sein Tor und schießt Konfetti in die Luft, mal schlägt er Purzelbäume auf dem Eis. Seine Ehrenrunde läuft er zur Musik von „Live is life“, die Fans singen im Takt dazu: „Hu-da-cek“.
[–>Schon seit seinem Karrierebeginn zeigt der Torhüter seine „Huda-Show“. In Örebro (Schweden) fuhr er sogar mal mit einem Motorrad über das Eis. Hudacek: „Ich war 19 Jahre alt und spielte in Kosice. Wir hatten einen weiteren Torhüter, der ein echter Showman war und immer mit den Fans feierte. Irgendwann spielte ich mein erstes Spiel, wir gewannen – und ich verschwand in der Kabine. Da rief mich der Equipment-Manager und sagte, die Fans würden warten. Also habe ich es meinem Kollegen gleichgetan und auf dem Eis getanzt. So fing es an.“
Inzwischen macht sich Hudacek sogar vor den Spielen Gedanken, wie er den nächsten Sieg feiern will: „Ich versuche, bei jeder Huda-Show einen kleinen Bezug zu tagesaktuellen Themen oder Ereignissen herzustellen. Ende des vergangenen Jahres gab es eine Weihnachtsmann-Show, kurz vor dem Jahreswechsel eine Silvester-Show.“
Schon nach seinem ersten Spiel für Köln gegen Straubing (2:0) am 3. Oktober gab es eine „Huda-Show“. Zuvor hatte er ein halbes Jahr nicht gespielt. Am 1. Oktober saß er noch vereinslos als Fußballfan von Slovan Bratislava in der Champions League gegen Manchester City (0:4) auf der Tribüne. Zwei Tage später wurde er in Köln im Rekordtempo zum Fanliebling.
