O vencedor faz a decisão amanhã, contra quem passar do duelo entre Boca Juniors e Instituto de Córdoba. Os argentinos jogam às 18h10.
O rubro-negro buscará o terceiro título continental, após ser campeão da Liga das Américas de 2014 e da BCLA em 2020/21 — foi vice em 2019/20, 2022/23 e 2023/24. Primeiro colocado do grupo com o Boca e o Toros de Chiriquí-PAN, a equipe treinada pelo argentino Sergio Hernández despachou o Paisas Basketball-COL nas quartas.
Por sua vez, o Franca venceu a BCLA na temporada 2022/23, superando o rubro-negro na final, e quer o segundo título sul-americano. A equipe paulista também liderou sua chave, com Instituto e CDC Leones-CHI, e superou o Quimsa-ARG no mata-mata.
O duelo digno de final antecipada reúne os dois times que dominam o basquete brasileiro nesta década. Campeão do NBB em 2019 e 2021 — a temporada de 2020 foi cancelada em função da COVID-19 —, o Flamengo foi sucedido pelo time de Helinho Garcia, que conquistou as últimas três edições.
Na última terça-feira, o time paulista venceu por 97 a 91 um confronto direto entre eles na última rodada da fase classificatória do NBB. A revanche não demorará muito, acontecendo em palco continental na casa rubro-negra, que foi selecionada para receber o Final Four.
Dois dos times mais tradicionais do basquete argentino, Boca e Instituto, buscam o título inédito. O Quimsa é o maior campeão, com duas taças.
Quem vencer este Final Four do Rio de Janeiro ainda garantirá vaga no Mundial, que será disputado em Singapura, entre 20 e 25 de setembro. A decisão será às 21h10 de amanhã.
