Als am vergangenen Samstagabend auf dem Betzenberg der Schlusspfiff ertönte, warfen sich die Lautern-Stars nacheinander enttäuscht auf den Rasen. Trotz 25:5 Torschüssen und drückender Überlegenheit verlor das Team von Markus Anfang (50) das wichtige Heimspiel gegen Nürnberg mit 1:2. Ein bitterer Rückschlag im Kampf um die Aufstiegsplätze. Der FCK steht jetzt auf Platz sechs – ist allerdings nur einen Punkt vom drittplatzierten Elversberg entfernt.
Schafft der Traditionsklub noch die Relegation? Trainer-Legende Friedhelm Funkel (71), der den Klub vergangenes Jahr vor dem Abstieg in die 3. Liga rettete und parallel ins DFB-Pokalfinale führte, zu SPORT BILD: „Dass sie jetzt das Heimspiel verloren haben, war extrem bitter. Klar ist aber: Mit 58 Punkten wirst du auf jeden Fall Dritter. Das wären jetzt noch vier Siege aus fünf Spielen. Das wird nicht einfach – ist aber möglich!“
[–>Siege in den Heimspielen sind laut Funkel absolute Pflicht. Schalke und Darmstadt müssen noch auf den Betzenberg. Auswärts trifft Lautern auf Braunschweig, Karlsruhe und am letzten Spieltag auf Köln. Nach der Funkel-Rechnung müsste das Team auch hier zwei Siege holen, um am Ende auf Platz drei zu landen.
Sollte es mit dem Aufstieg funktionieren, würde sich Funkel insbesondere für seinen Kollegen Anfang freuen. Bislang hat der nämlich noch nie in der 1. Liga trainiert. Funkel: „Mit Kiel ist er damals knapp in der Relegation gescheitert. Mit Köln wäre er aufgestiegen, wenn die Verantwortlichen sich nicht kurz vor Saisonende von ihm getrennt hätten. Ich konnte das damals nicht verstehen. Der wäre zu hundert Prozent aufgestiegen. Er hätte es verdient!“

Lauterns 3:1-Heimsieg gegen Düsseldorf Ende März sah Funkel im Stadion. Auf der Tribüne traf er FCK-Geschäftsführer Thomas Hengen (50). Hengen nahm Funkel nach dem Spiel mit in die Kabine. Hier unterhielt er sich unter anderem mit den Spielern, gratulierte ihnen zum Sieg. Die Profis freuten sich extrem über den Besuch ihres Ex-Trainers.
Funkel: „Ich bin dann auch noch bei Markus (Anfang; d. Red.) gewesen. Er ist optimistisch, dass sie es schaffen können. Sie müssen jetzt einfach weiterhin dran glauben. Es wird ein ganz, ganz enges Rennen.“
