The NFL Draft is approaching, and all eyes are on Shedeur Sanders-whether he’ll crumble, whether the New York Giants will take him with the third pick, whether the Steelers will make a trade, or if he’ll fall to the second round. What’s certain is that next Thursday’s Draft will revolve around the former Colorado Buffaloes quarterback.
The reality is that the 2025 quarterback class is not attractive at all. Anything can happen, and maybe a star will emerge, but the projections are not promising for what’s available at the position in this Draft. However, Shedeur Sanders showed some good things with the Colorado Buffaloes and put his university back on the competitive map.

Adam Schefter from ESPN warned that the team drafting Shedeur Sanders will have to deal with a lot-his personality being one part of it, and the other, his father, Deion Sanders. Schefter explained that if the team starts to struggle, Deion would immediately be mentioned as a candidate for Head Coach.
“And then there’s this: aside from Mike Tomlin in Pittsburgh, any other coach who drafts Sanders should feel uneasy about their position within the organization. Because if that team begins to struggle and fans call for a coaching change, speculation will start about Sanders’ father stepping into the role,” wrote Schefter.
Another important point: the Colorado Buffaloes recently gave Deion Sanders a major contract extension to remain Head Coach of the program, but according to Schefter, there’s a buyout clause that makes it feasible for any NFL team that wants him.
“Even though Deion recently signed a five-year, $54 million extension, his buyout clause isn’t too restrictive. It starts at $12 million if he leaves before December 31, 2025, drops to $10 million in 2026, $6 million in 2027, $4 million in 2028, and $3 million in 2029,” Schefter added.
What’s undeniable is that wherever Shedeur Sanders ends up, the franchise will constantly be in the spotlight. So, the quarterback’s NFL show is bound to be an interesting one.
