Bayer hat den ersten Transfer für die neue Saison unter Dach und Fach!
Mit Ibrahim Maza (19) von Hertha BSC hat der Werksklub einen „der interessantesten jungen Offensivspieler“ geholt, so Leverkusens Sport-Geschäftsführer Simon Rolfes (43). Maza unterschrieb einen Vertrag bis 2030.
Bereits vergangenen Sonntag hatte der 19-Jährige seinen Medizincheck in Leverkusen absolviert, am Donnerstagmorgen wurde der Wechsel offiziell verkündet. Ablöse: mindestens zehn Mio. Euro.

Der Wechsel sei „eine großartige Chance – ein Traum! Ich hatte bei der Hertha in der Zweiten Liga die besten Möglichkeiten, mich zu entwickeln und zu verbessern.“
Auch der VfB Stuttgart und Teams aus England waren scharf auf Maza. Die Champions League mit Leverkusen gab den Ausschlag.
„Jetzt möchte ich mich bei einem europäischen Topklub auf der ganz großen Bühne bewähren. Ich freue mich sehr auf Bayer 04, auf das spezielle, enge Stadion mit seiner tollen Atmosphäre und auf eine Mannschaft, die mich in den zurückliegenden Jahren sehr beeindruckt hat. Hier in Leverkusen kann ich mich noch weiterentwickeln und Titel gewinnen – das ist es, was mich antreibt“, kündigt Maza an.

Das Offensiv-Talent soll als Nachfolger von Florian Wirtz (21) aufgebaut werden. Maza trägt bei Hertha die Nummer 10 – wie Wirtz in Leverkusen.
„Ibrahim passt zu uns und zu unserer Art des Fußballs. Er hat hervorragende technische Fertigkeiten, er ist dribbelstark und durchsetzungsfähig und hat dabei einen Blick für seine Mitspieler, die er glänzend einzusetzen weiß“, ist Manager Rolfes überzeugt.
Fraglich ist nur, wer ab Juli Mazas Trainer unterm Bayer-Kreuz wird. Xabi Alonso (43) war bei der Verpflichtung des Technikers eingebunden, doch sein Abgang zu Real Madrid nach Saisonende steht bevor.
