Erst Super-Vertrag mit Kiel, dann Klatsche in Lemgo.
Für Deutschlands Nationalspieler Julian Köster (25) steht am Ende einer ereignisreichen Woche eine bittere Niederlage beim TBV Lemgo Lippe. Erstmals seit sechs Jahren verlieren die Gummersbacher mit Köster wieder beim TBV – 26:35 (13:16).
Köster, der sich nach seiner Wund-Infektion-OP im April, erst langsam wieder herankämpft, erwischt keinen Sahnetag. Zu viele Fehlwürfe und ungewohnt viele technische Fehler sorgen dafür, dass Lemgo den lang ersehnten Heimsieg gegen den VfL einfährt.

Viel interessanter, als der Spielausgang ist, dass Köster erste Details zu seinem Kiel-Vertragsabschluss (wechselt ab 2026 zum THW) verrät. Bei Dyn sagt er: „Es war keine leichte Entscheidung für mich, aber es gab einige Gründe für Kiel. Unter anderem die sportlichen, denn der THW ist nicht nur Rekordmeister, sondern auch einer der größten und traditionsreichsten Vereine. Dazu gab es auch einige private und persönliche Gründe.“
Handball-Star Köster: „Ich hatte eine Pro- und Contra-Liste“
Die erklärt Köster so: „Ich werde meine Heimat verlassen, ans Meer ziehen und mal über den Tellerrand hinaus schauen. Ich habe dazu die klassische Pro- und Contra-Liste aufgestellt und zusammen mit meiner Freundin, meinem Vater, Mutter und meinem Bruder, der ja auch Handball spielt und auch ein bisschen Ahnung hat, entschieden.“
Angst, wie Ex-Bundestrainer und Gummersbach-Legende Heiner Brand (72) formulierte „muss man erst sehen, ob er dort glücklich wird“, hat Köster nicht: „Ich freue mich darauf, dass erste Mal aus meiner Heimat wegzugehen, einen neuen Verein, ein neues Umfeld kennenzulernen. Dass ich mich in einer neuen Mannschaft erst finden und integrieren muss, da gebe ich Heiner Brand recht, aber Sorge habe ich nicht. Ich denke, ich kann mich da gut weiterentwickeln.“

Im Spiel läuft erst alles gut: Gummersbach führt schnell 5:9 (13.). Doch dann bekommt Lemgos Trainer Florian Kehrmann (47) eine Zwei-Minuten-Strafe, weil er sich zu laut bei den Schiris beschwert, verteidigt seine gefoulten Spieler zu stark. Die Trainer-Strafe weckt seine Spieler auf: Die rennen und treffen plötzlich wie entfesselt.
Lemgos Samuel Zehnder (25) gibt bei Dyn zu: „Die Strafe für den Trainer hat noch einmal richtig Feuer in die Halle und in uns gebracht.“
Die Stimmung kippt zugunsten von Lemgo-Lippe. Nach 21 Minuten ist der Ausgleich geschafft 12:12. Die erste Drei-Tore-Führung gibt es zur Halbzeit 16:13. Nach 35 Minuten ist der Drops gelutscht. Die Kehrmann-Truppe liegt 20:15 vorn und gibt den Sieg nicht mehr aus den Händen.
