Angel Reese, the Chicago Sky‘s standout forward, made a significant impact at the Met Gala as she shows off her fashion credentials once again, whilst Caitlin Clark was a no-show on May 5.
The 22-year-old graced the event at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City by wearing a custom black two-piece ensemble by Thom Browne, featuring a crisp white collar and lace-up details that added a contemporary edge to the classic design.
Her look was accentuated with over 107 carats of Graff diamonds and she accessorised the look with pear-shaped earrings with yellow studs, multiple yellow and diamond rings, and an emerald-cut diamond bracelet, showcasing her luxury and style.
The star attended the Met Gala as a member of the host committee, a prestigious role that underscores her influence beyond basketball and highlighted mingling of sports and fashion in this modern day and age.
The theme of the 2025 Met Gala, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” celebrated black dandyism and fashion history, and also saw the seven-time Formula 1 world champion, Lewis Hamilton, attend too.

However, one athletic ace who wasn’t there was the Indiana Fever‘s Clark, despite the rising WNBA Rookie of the Year having a flavour for fashionable garments and outfits herself.
As the WNBA continues to grow in visibility and influence, the involvement of players like Reese in major cultural events highlights the importance of multifaceted representation.
But the absence of the 23-year-old Iowa graduate sparked questions about her willingness to appear on such a public stage, with theories claiming she is absorbed by her commitment to basketball.
The ability to navigate both the basketball court and the fashion world might not be a task Clark is up to, but it was one Reese managed to knock out of the park on the red carpet as the paparazzi cameras lit up when she appeared.

Clark, the Fever‘s standout guard, will look to drive the team to the basket and to the WNBA Finals in 2025 as they target a first championship since 2012, under the new leadership of Stephanie White.
After a .500 record in 2024, they will look to press on to take the fight to the New York Liberty and will do so by opening their campaign against the Sky on May 17.
The Sky, headed by Reese, are also looking to step it up a gear after a disappointing end to 2024 saw them finish with a .325 record and last in the Eastern Conference with just six wins at the Wintrust Arena.
The game will take place on a Saturday at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis and will be broadcast live on ABC, ESPN+ and Disney+.
