Hay un dicho, repetido hasta la saciedad, que expresa bastante bien lo que significa el rojo más característico de la Fórmula 1, el de Ferrari.En Italia solo hay dos religiones, el catolicismo y Ferrari“, cuentan. Y en estos tiempos tan especiales donde todas las miradas se posan sobre el próximo Cónclave en el Vaticano, la parte de Ferrari no deja de fallar en la F1. La última actuación en Miami pone de manifiesto una situación de crisis total y absoluta, que no se evita ni con las dos exhibiciones de Lewis Hamilton al sprint (China y la última en los Estados Unidos). El único hilo de luz en las nubes negras.

La carrera de Miami fue un completo fiasco más allá del 7º y 8º en la meta de la carrera. El SF-25 se cayó al quinto coche y la gestión de los pilotos fue nefasta. Las quejas de Hamilton, la destrucción de sus neumáticos detrás de Leclerc y las peticiones del monegasco en las últimas vueltas fueron el resumen de una actuación decepcionante. Que ya ha hartado a Italia por completo.

A través de la prensa, especialmente. Nadie agita tanto a las masas como los analíticos exámenes a Ferrari y el de la revista ‘Autosprint‘, una de las más importantes, es la gota que colma el vaso. “Cavallino decepcionante”, cuentan. Es un juego de palabras con la definición de su logo, el ‘rampante’. Y añaden varias frases lapidarias. “Es otra película de pesadilla para Ferrari. Otra actuación vergonzosa para un equipo cada vez más en crisis”, cuentan. El hartazgo es total.

¿Quién manda en Ferrari?

Las dudas de Ferrari son totales y parten desde una cuestión de preferencias y liderato de equipo. Ya en los tiempos de Leclerc junto a Carlos Sainz, con velocidad parecida y sentido de equipo similar, se llegó a puntos de discusión que se expresaban por radio. Con Hamilton más si cabe y el británico ya se ha empleado a fondo para que el equipo italiano le ayude. A su favor puede estar el rendimiento en Miami, donde fue más rápido que Leclerc y no destrozó el coche como hizo el monegasco antes del sprint.

Estaba enfadado por la tardanza en toma de decisiones y el encadenamiento de ajustes tardíos que solo lastraron su carrera. Leclerc puede ser más rápido en el global, pero quizá en Miami tenía algo más el ’44’.

En el total del campeonato no hay tanta diferencia (53-41) para el del Principado, que sí que tiene un estilo de conducción y obtención de rendimiento inmediato más apropiado al Ferrari que el de Hamilton. Pero en los Estados Unidos se fueron con menos puntos de los que podrían lograr. Antonelli se les escapó claramente. Y ya no digamos Albon,

¿El coche puede mejorar?

La otra gran vía de dudas es sobre el SF-25. El coche recibió un importante paquete de actualizaciones con el nuevo suelo de Bahréin. Era menos sofisticado (dentro de la sofisticación máxima) que el primero y de inicio aportó algo más de equilibrio. Pero lejos de ser el punto a partir del que Ferrari iba a construir, el coche no dio otro paso. Logró el podio de Jeddah en el que Leclerc brilló y Hamilton obtuvo el del sprint de Miami, pero el Ferrari no está ahí.

Aunque el equipo italiano se agarra al inicio de ‘gira europea’ y lo que supondrá Barcelona. “Los alerones delanteros cambiarán. Será un reset para todo el mundo“, dijo Fred Vasseur, que confía en la nueva directiva técnica. ¿Pero vale para un salto real?

Esa es otra cuestión que en la Scuderia deben realizar. Las últimas sensaciones tras Miami no pueden ser más negativas. Con dudas de equipo, superados por Williams y bajo preguntas sin responder por parte de sus piezas claves. Hasta Leo Leclerc, el curioso y divertido perro del piloto monegasco, se iba al hospitality de Williams… Ni eso les salió bien.
