Amelia Bono comenzaba así su comunicado: “Siento mucha impotencia y una rabia tremenda. No puedo entender cómo se puede hablar tan a la ligera y decir cualquier cosa sin conocimiento de causa. Y, sobre todo, sin tener en cuenta la repercusión y cómo puede afectar a 4 niños. Esto, sin duda, es lo más importante y lo más grave. Me parece lamentable”.

Bono siguió escribiendo al respecto, comentando que no tiene que dar explicaciones: “No tengo que justificarme de nada, pero por favor. Lo que para muchos puede ser divertido, para una familia puede ser algo que hace mucho daño. Y de hecho, ya lo habéis conseguido”.
De la misma manera, Amelia pidió a los medios de comunicación y a los ciudadanos aportar una visión diferente de lo ocurrido: “Deberíais reflexionar sobre vuestra profesionalidad y las personas también por los comentarios. Ojalá sintáis mucha vergüenza. Es lo que merecéis. La ‘broma’ ha llegado muy lejos. Por favor, pido que acabéis con esto. Ha hecho mucho daño. Sentiros orgullosos”.
Asimismo, otro detalle que puede pasar desapercibido y que llamó la atención es que estas palabras han sido replicadas por su exmarido, Manuel Martos, con el que había roto hace un año, pero siguen estando uno al lado del otro por sus hijos.
