Felipe Melo sinaliza ‘soberba’ de time no Brasil: “Falta humildade”

Arsenal and Mikel Arteta, what next? ‘We have to prove that we can do it’

After their elimination in the Champions League semi-finals by Paris Saint-Germain this week, it will now be five years without a trophy for Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal. In the summer of 2020, amid the Covid-19 pandemic, both Arsenal and Liverpool had the strange mischance to lift silverware in empty stadia: Liverpool were crowned Premier League champions in an Anfield devoid of fans, while Arsenal won the FA Cup final in a cavernous, echoing Wembley Stadium.AdvertisementBoth clubs resolved to get back to the podium to share such a moment with their supporters as soon as possible. While Liverpool have since won an FA Cup, two Carabao Cups and, this season, another Premier League, Arsenal are still awaiting their next opportunity to celebrate. They are on course to finish as Premier League runners-up for a third consecutive season, and also reached the semi-finals in two of […]

Connor Hellebuyck, Jets shut out Stars in Game 2 to even series: Takeaways

WINNIPEG — Connor Hellebuyck’s best game of the playoffs has equalized Round 2. He’d given up 26 goals under heavy duress against the St. Louis Blues and he was pulled from three straight road games, creating a crisis of confidence, and was unable to keep Mikko Rantanen off the board in Game 1.AdvertisementHellebuyck responded with a vintage performance in Game 2.The Jets got Vilardi’s power-play goal three and a half minutes into the game and Ehlers’ fortunate bounce three and a half minutes after that. Are Chelsea better when they have less possession?

Chelsea recorded their lowest share of possession in any Premier League match this season against Liverpool last weekend and produced one of their best performances of it.Despite having the ball just 35.3 per cent of the time against the newly-crowned Premier League champions at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea scored three times in a 3-1 victory. They also generated their fourth-best expected goals value (3.1 xG) of the league season — a number boosted by Moises Caicedo winning a golden chance for Cole Palmer to end his 18-game scoring drought from the penalty spot in the 96th minute.AdvertisementEnzo Maresca’s team were far more aggressive when they did get the ball, generating five fast breaks (defined by Opta as a fast counter-attack starting from a team’s own half with the opposition defence at least partly unsorted) and six direct attacks (classified as the […]
