Jake Paul gets offer from Tommy Fury to fight, but he would lose money

As Jake Paul gears up for his June 28 bout against Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., another potential fight is already taking shape.

With 45 days to go before the showdown in Anaheim, John Fury, father and trainer of Tommy Fury, has urged Paul to accept a 50/50 split and run back the only defeat of your boxing career.

In February 2023, Paul‘s undefeated streak came to an end at the hands of Tommy Fury in a split decision loss that remains the lone blemish on the YouTuber-turned-boxer’s record.

While Paul has since added wins and continued to chase big-name opponents-from Mike Tyson to failed flirtations with Canelo Alvarez and Anthony Joshua-the Fury camp believes the real business unfinished is right in front of him.

Speaking in an interview with Seconds Out, John Fury didn’t mince words when asked whether the Tommy Fury rematch would still be on the table even if Paul were to lose to Chavez Jr.

Jake Paul, this is to you,” John Fury began directly. “You’re fighting behind conversations. Know what I mean, pal? Conversations. Fight Tommy for real 50/50.”

Demanding the lion’s share

John Fury made it clear that while his son has every right to demand the lion’s share of any rematch purse-having already beaten Paul-they’re willing to meet halfway to make the fight happen.

“We’ll give you a 50/50 split, but don’t talk like a prk with the numbers. We know what the fight’s worth. I’m not a fool. If you want to fight Tommy 50/50 anywhere in the world, he’ll take you straight the fk out, mate,” Fury said.

The offer wasn’t exclusive to Jake Paul, either. John Fury extended a similar challenge to KSI, who also lost to Tommy Fury in 2023. But it’s Paul who remains the primary focus, especially after previously holding the A-side advantage.

During their initial bout, Paul reportedly secured a 65 percent share of the pay-per-view revenue and a guaranteed purse of around $3.5 million. The bout was promoted as a grudge match between influencers-turned-boxers and drew significant attention, even as critics questioned the quality of the competition.
