Neue Konkurrenz für ter Stegen im Barça-Tor?
Der FC Barcelona will zur kommenden Saison einen neuen Torhüter verpflichten. Wunschspieler: Joan Garcia (24) von Stadtrivale Espanyol. Wie die spanische „AS“ berichtet, soll der sogar neuer Stammtorhüter werden.
[–>Der Grund: Die Katalanen befürchten, keinen Weltklasse-Torhüter mehr zu haben. Für viele mag das überraschend kommen. Denn derzeit stehen noch Marc-André ter Stegen (33) und Wojciech Szczesny (35) bei Barça unter Vertrag. Allerdings könnte die Tor-Situation im Sommer weniger komfortabel werden.
Szczesnys Vertrag läuft im Sommer aus. Der Pole zögert bei der Vertragsverlängerung. Barça hatte ihm einen Zweijahresvertrag angeboten, ob er ihn annimmt, will er mit seiner Familie absprechen. Ob er dann allerdings die Nummer eins sein wird, ist unklar. Zuletzt übernahm Szczesny für den verletzten ter Stegen.

Dessen Verletzung soll das Vertrauen der Vereinsführung geschädigt haben. Im September zog sich der Deutsche eine Knieverletzung zu, kam erst Ende April wieder zurück. Hinzu kommt sein Alter. Die Barça-Bosse glauben wohl nicht daran, dass er mit 33 Jahren nach der langen Pause sein vorheriges Niveau wieder erreicht.

Der Beste aus La Liga soll es werden! Garcia hat die beste Statistik der Saison. Die meisten Paraden pro 90 Minuten, dazu die beste Paradequote. Aber: Damit hat er nicht nur Barça auf sich aufmerksam gemacht. Auch aus der Premier League gibt es reges Interesse. Arsenal soll im vergangenen Sommer schon einmal ein Angebot für ihn abgegeben haben, Aston Villa hat sein Interesse ebenfalls schon bekundet.

Garcia kommt aus einem katalanischen Dorf, wurde bei Espanyol ausgebildet. Trotz seiner herausragenden Leistung hängt der Klub am unteren Ende der Tabelle. 2021 war Garcia mit ihnen bereits Zweitliga-Meister geworden. Der Schritt zum Stadtrivalen könnte ihn in Zukunft zum spanischen Meister machen.
