Sinner regresó entonces a las prácticas en el Montecarlo Country Club porque reside en el Principado monegasco. Antes de esa fecha, no podía trabajar en ningún club ni tener contacto con sus técnicos y compañeros del circuito profesional. Sí podía ejercitarse en canchas privadas.
Practicó con su compatriota Matteo Berrettini y Jack Draper, entre otros, antes de aterrizar en Roma el domingo 4 de mayo. Ha ganado sus cinco partidos y se ha plantado en la lucha por el título, lo que le mantiene invicto en el presente curso.
Históricamente siempre le había costado lograr resultados sobre la tierra. De sus 19 coronas, la única en cancha lenta es Umag, en 2022. Precisamente derrotó en la final a Carlos Alcaraz.
