The Colorado Rockies lost 2-0 to the Philadelphia Phillies to continue what has been a historically bad start to the 2025 season.The loss dropped the franchise to 8-42 this year, which is the worst record any team has posted through 50 games in the MLB’s modern era. Former MLB player Darin Ruf is suing the the Cincinnati Reds over a tarp he claims caused his career-ending injury two years ago, according to the Associated Press.The lawsuit was reportedly filed Thursday in the Hamilton County (Ohio) Court of Common Pleas. It reportedly accuses the Reds of negligence for failing to maintain safe field conditions, specifically noting the risks presented by an unpadded metal tarp roller at Great American Ball Park.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementRuf encountered that tarp while playing first base for the Milwaukee Brewers on June 2, 2023. Ruf ran into what the lawsuit says was an unpadded, metal tarp roller on June 2, 2023. It would be the last major-league game of his career. He returned more than three months later in Triple-A to appear in seven games before his professional career ended. Ruf's lawsuit accuses the Reds of negligence in failing to maintain safe field conditions, citing negligent and "reckless" conduct from the grounds crew to leave the tarp in such fashion.
