Die Schweizer Weltklasse-Sprinterin Mujinga Kambundji beendet die Saison vorzeitig – „aus dem schönsten Grund“, wie sie selbst auf Instagram schreibt. Die Leichtathletin ist nämlich schwanger.
Kambundji: „Ich bin unglaublich glücklich, mitteilen zu können, dass unser kleines Wunder auf dem Weg ist.“ Dazu teilte sie ein Foto, auf dem sie mit strahlendem Lächeln mehrere Ultraschall-Bilder in der Hand hält.
[–>Wie der Schweizer Leichtathletik-Verband mitteilte, soll der Nachwuchs schon im Herbst zur Welt kommen. Das heißt: Kambundji war vor zwei Monaten bei ihrem WM-Sieg über 60 Meter in der Halle schon schwanger!
Vor wenigen Tagen trat die 200-Meter-Europameisterin von 2022 und 2024 beim Diamond Meeting in Doha an – doch da machte sich die Schwangerschaft bemerkbar, sagt sie. „Aus medizinischer Sicht hätte nichts dagegen gesprochen, noch ein paar Wettkämpfe zu bestreiten. Doch in den letzten Wochen spürte ich, wie sich das Körpergefühl durch die Schwangerschaft verändert und mir im Rennen schlicht die Substanz fehlt“.
Danach traf sie die Entscheidung, die WM-Saison 2025 vorzeitig zu beenden. Doch ein Karriere-Ende ist nicht in Sicht: „In Rücksprache mit den Spezialisten werde ich belastungsangepasst weitertrainieren, um mein Fitnessniveau möglichst lange zu erhalten. Wenn alles klappt, möchte ich eine leere Saison unbedingt vermeiden und nächstes Jahr auf die Bahn zurückkehren.“

Mujinga Kambundji will auch als Mama wieder auf der Tartanbahn angreifen: 2028 strebt sie in Los Angeles ihre fünfte Olympiateilnahme an. „Wir werden nichts überstürzen, aber das Ziel ist, schon 2026 wieder kompetitiv zu sein“, sagt Kambundji. Sie ist 200-m-Titelverteidigerin – das bedeutet, dass sie für die EM der kommenden Saison in Birmingham eine Wildcard hat.
„2027 ist wieder ein WM-Jahr und 2028 würde ich gerne ein drittes Mal in Folge im 100-m-Olympiafinale stehen“, sagt Kambundji, die Schweizer Fahnenträgerin von Tokio 2021.
Und weiter: „Ich freue mich extrem auf das neue Kapitel in meiner Karriere.“
