As inscrições para o Desafio da Ponte serão abertas no dia 10 de junho. A prova será para oito mil corredores, mesmo número da última edição em 2013, que terão de comprovar tempo mínimo para a efetivação da inscrição. A corrida de 21k, sendo 13,9k na ponte Rio-Niterói, será realizada no dia 3 de agosto, a partir das 6h30.
As inscrições poderão ser feitas pelo site www.desafiodaponteoficial.com.br, no valor de R$499,00. O kit terá camiseta da prova, viseira e número de peito.
A largada será em Niterói, no Caminho Niemeyer, e a chegada, no Rio, na Praça Mauá, onde terá um palco para shows, local para ativações (como gravação do tempo na medalha), área recovery e loja com produtos da marca Desafio da Ponte.
A intenção da organização é oferecer diferentes experiências aos participantes, como ingresso VIP (com área reservada na Praça Mauá, buffet e espaço de recovery exclusivo), largada avançada (na primeira onda, ideal para atletas mais rápidos), transfer para a largada em Niterói, entre outras opções. Essas opções extras serão cobradas a parte.
Pedro Pereira, gerente de produto do Desafio da Ponte, explicou que por conta da quantidade de corredores, a mesma da última edição, e do desafio em si, foi preciso estipular um tempo de corte. Para participar, será necessário comprovar tempo igual ou inferior a 2h30 em provas de meia maratona ou 5h em provas de maratona, realizadas a partir de janeiro de 2024. O critério é o mesmo para homens e mulheres.
A prova a ser usada como comprovação de índice precisa ser de corrida de rua e chancelada por alguma entidade de caráter oficial, seja ela World Athletics, Nacional (CBAt) ou Estadual. Sendo assim, vale ressaltar que os resultados obtidos nas provas de 21km e 42km da Maratona do Rio 2024 são válidos como índice.
Pedro explicou ainda que assim como ocorre na Maratona do Rio, a largada será em ondas, a partir das 6h30. Possivelmente oito largadas e cerca de 1 hora para a realização de todas elas. A categoria Elite, para atletas profissionais, será a primeira e terá premiação em dinheiro para os campeões. Os corredores que cruzarem a linha de chegada ganharão medalha e os vencedores por faixa etária levarão troféu.
— A largada no Caminho Niemeyer é perto das barcas, facilitando a logística do corredor. Ele poderá optar por chegar pelas barcas, que terá operação especial, ou com transfer (a ser contratado com a organização).
