Mehr und mehr junge Spieler zieht es aus der Easycredit Basketball Bundesliga und dem Unterbau ProA auf Colleges in die USA. Seit es dort dank der sogenannten NIL-Deals neben einer akademischen Ausbildung und professionellen Trainingsbedingungen auch richtig gutes Geld zu verdienen gibt, verlässte eine ganze Nachwuchs-Generation Deutschland.
Zunächst erwischte es mit Johann Grünloh (19/Rasta Vechta), Hannes Steinbach (18/Würzburg) und Sananda Fru (21/Braunschweig) kleinere und mittlere Klubs. Doch mittlerweile sind nicht mal mehr Euroleague-Vertreter FC Bayern oder der elfmalige Meister Alba Berlin sicher.

Alba verliert Eigengewächs Elias Rapieque (21). Und das, obwohl sein Vertrag in der Hauptstadt noch drei (!) Jahre läuft!

Die Gerüchte über einen Abgang hielten sich im Laufe der Saison hartnäckig. Denn obwohl Rapieque sogar erste Minuten in der Euroleague spielte, fühlte er sich im Hin und Her zwischen Königsklasse, BBL und dem Farm-Team Lok Bernau (3. Liga) nicht genug wertgeschätzt.
Nun hat sich Rapieque mit einem emotionalen Post auf Instagram nach 14 Jahren von „seinem“ Alba verabschiedet.
„Ich sage nach 14 Jahren auf Wiedersehen zu meinem Heimatverein“, schreibt er. „Ich schaue mir die Bilder mit einem weinenden aber auch einem lachenden Auge an. Es ist traurig das ist jetzt vorbei ist, aber so schön, dass es passiert ist. So viele tolle Erinnerungen, Erlebnisse und Menschen, die ich kennenlernen durfte.“
Und weiter: „Ich habe bei diesem Verein nicht nur sportliche Erfolge erzielt mit gewonnenen Meisterschaften (…), sondern viel wichtiger, habe ich ein Zuhause und eine Familie gefunden. Ich möchte mich einmal von ganzem Herzen bedanken, für alle, die mich auf meinem Weg begleitet und unterstützt haben.“
Interessant auch: In seinen Stories ist zusehen, dass Rapieque gerade bei einem Personal Trainer in Berlin ackert. An seiner Seite: Skandal-Profi Khalifa Koumadje (28), den die Berliner im November nach mehreren Entgleisungen und Vorwürfen der häuslichen Gewalt entlassen hatten. Danach hatte Koumadje ein Engagement in China angenommen.
Rapieque wird es dagegen ebenfalls in die US-College-Liga ziehen. Angeblich soll es sich dabei um Kansas State handeln. Weil die NCAA formal nicht als Profi-Liga gilt, haben Vereine wie Alba trotz gültiger Arbeitspapiere keine Handhabe gegen Wechsel.
