Serena Williams, the 23-time Grand Slam champion, has long been admired not only for her athletic prowess but also for the grace and determination she brings to motherhood, including the challenge of a restless toddler in the middle of the night.

Since welcoming her first daughter, Olympia, in 2017, the 43-year-old has redefined the public’s perception of what it means to balance elite sports, business ventures, and family life.

Burn! Serena Williams gets roasted by daughter Olympia

Then with the arrival of her second child, Adira, in August 2023, Serena‘s journey into motherhood continues to evolve, marked by both joyful and challenging moments as she shows the true reality of parenting.

Williams recently shared a relatable glimpse into the challenges with an amusing post on Instagram featuring her young Adira.

“Can you believe this little cutie @adiraohanian had me out at 1 am last night, hopping around the streets of Berlin? Jet lag is real,” Serena posted on the Meta-owned social media network.

This moment of vulnerability drew a playful response from Alexis Ohanian, her father, who commented, “Papa said Go to bed, little girl!”

This episode is far from the only time Williams has acknowledged the difficult aspects of parenting. In October 2024, she posted a reel exposing the stark contrast between societal expectations of mothers and the often messy, exhausting reality.

Such openness underscores the emotional labor mothers endure behind the scenes, even when balancing high-profile careers. But family life for the Williams-Ohanian household is also full of lighthearted moments too.

The couple and their children recently engaged in a cooking collaboration with American singer Trisha Yearwood, a joyful occasion Serena shared online too.

“How fun and how cute to share a stage with @olympiaohanian,” Serena posted to Instagram. “She kinda stole the show tbh.

“I had an incredible time collaborating with @trishayearwood cooking up some delicious peach glazed chicken tacos what a memorable culinary adventure!”

Away from her mother’s efforts, her father also takes Olympia golfing as they continue to teach her how to play a sport she has apparently shown promising talent in.

How did Serena and Alexis meet?

Serena Williams and Alexis Ohanian met in 2015 through a mutual friend while the tennis sensation was at the French Open in Paris, a tournament she went on to finish as the champion of by defeating Lucie Safarova.

And their connection was immediate, sparked by shared interests and mutual admiration. Alexis, co-founder of Reddit, was drawn to Serena‘s determination and grace both on and off the tennis court.

Despite their different worlds-sports and technology-they quickly found common ground and their relationship blossomed over time, leading to their engagement in 2016 and marriage in 2017.

Since then, they have supported each other’s careers while building a family, blending their passions for entrepreneurship, athletics, and parenthood.
