Deschamps está supervisando una transición e incorporando nuevos jugadores a su sistema, y creo que el nuevo sistema puede tener éxito. Veremos, porque aunque pensamos que España es un equipo más completo, Francia está más preparada ahora que entonces.

Cuando jugamos contra ellos, Mbappe podría haber marcado la diferencia, pero no era su momento, así que puede que este partido podría decidirse por la brillantez individual de Francia. Técnicamente, colectivamente, España es la gran favorita sobre Francia. Sólo un jugador francés puede aportar magia, Mbappe y quizás Dembelé.

Está preparado porque Deschamps ha iniciado la transición y creo que Francia será una de las favoritas para el Mundial. Gane o pierda no es el final de esta era para Francia.Desde 2016, Francia no ha dejado de crecer. Nuevos jugadores han llegado al equipo constantemente y ahora tienen a los jugadores adecuados. Cherki es uno de ellos junto a Dembélé, Kylian Mbappé sigue ahí y en la cima de su juego.

R. Es que hay una verdadera dinámica. William Saliba está en la defensa con Konate, el Bayern tiene a Upamecano. Hay una plantilla y una filosofía, y Zidane sabrá asumirlas para reconstruir su propio equipo. Al menos durante ocho años más, Francia estará en lo más alto de Europa.
P. Habló del PSG, tremenda final ¿no?
R. Honestamente, me dolió ver ganar 5-0 al PSG, porque yo gané 4-0 en la final con el Milan al Barcelona en Atenas 1994. El anterior resultado más abultado de la historia fue el 4-0 de mi equipo, en el que marqué el cuarto gol hace 31 años. Pero bueno de eso hace mucho tiempo.

R. Sí, para mí el PSG es el favorito para el Mundial de Clubes, pero se enfrenta de nuevo a un duro rival, el Atlético de Madrid, nada más empezar y tendrá que volver a estar listo rápidamente.
Ha habido quejas de que el Mundial de Clubes no es bueno para el sistema, pero había que adaptar las cosas, es como la nueva versión de la Copa Confederaciones. Se necesita un torneo para prepararse para el Mundial y éste lo es.
Los jugadores, contentos o no, son profesionales. Ya verán lo feliz que hace económicamente a los clubes este torneo, que tiene el poder de poner la felicidad en manos de los clubes… y además es bueno para el currículum de un jugador. Estoy deseando verlo.
P. ¿Como cree que he encajado Mbappé ese título del PSG?
R. Creo que estará dolido. Es la naturaleza humana. Para él es más doloroso porque su corazón es el PSG. El año pasado era un líder, pero se han adaptado sin él. Así que creo que es muy doloroso para él, aunque vaya a ser el máximo goleador europeo y haya rendido bien para el Madrid.
Pero la naturaleza humana también le dirá que aunque no la haya ganado este año, está bien. Lo ha intentado y ha dado lo mejor de sí mismo y no ha sido suficiente.
Mbappé estará dolido, es la naturaleza humana, pero a mí también me paso, te vas y ganan, te quedas confuso…
P. En el caso opuesto está Dembelé que dejó el Barcelona y ahora es campeón… a usted también le ocurrió.
R. Sí, dejé el Chelsea en 2004, antes de que ganara dos Premier League seguidas, estaba contento pero también triste. Y dejé el Milan cuando terminamos terceros y al año siguiente ganaron la liga. Aunque llevo el Milan en la sangre, me sentí confuso…
P. De los de su perfil en Francia, a quién ve con más proyección
R. Pues mira tengo que pedir disculpas a William Saliba. Cuando empezó, dije que no creía que pudiera ser uno de esos defensas de primera línea que tenemos en Francia. Pero se ha convertido en un defensa de primera en el que realmente podemos confiar. En la selección es el número uno, aunque haya otros defensas de primera.
Tenemos grandes defensas como Konate y Upamecano, pero Saliba es el mejor. Una de las preocupaciones de los seguidores del Arsenal es que lleva tres y probablemente cuatro temporadas en el primer equipo. ¿Querrá cambiar? Sabemos que el Arsenal nunca es el número uno.
Esta temporada se quedará ahí. No le veo yéndose a ningún sitio. Pero en el futuro podría verle en el Real Madrid con un nuevo estilo de vida. Los aficionados del Arsenal deberían preocuparse.

R. Me gustaría ver a Cristiano Ronaldo en Estados Unidos, por el Mundial de 2026. Ya es mucho más que ir a un lugar para ganar dinero. Me encantaría ver a Cristiano por las mismas razones que otras expansiones a Asia: traerá la cultura del fútbol, que aún no tienen.

Si acepta, tendrá que demostrarlo la próxima temporada. Así, Ancelotti podrá construir un equipo sin Neymar, pero siempre tendrá un lugar para él si muestra el nivel necesario a mitad de temporada. Neymar necesita demostrar su grandeza, su habilidad, pero también su consistencia, para poder volver.

R. El fútbol se mueve rápido y quién sabe si podría entrar en conflicto con jugadores como Bradley Barcola y Desire Doue a medida que crecen y tienen más influencia en el sistema.
