Das wird viele Alba-Fans schockieren: Tim Schneider (27) verlässt die Berliner!
Am heutigen Donnerstag gab der Basketball-Bundesligist bekannt, dass Schneider nach 14 Jahren beim Hauptstadtklub seinen auslaufenden Vertrag nicht verlängern wird.
„Diese Entscheidung ist mir alles andere als leichtgefallen“, so der Power Forward auf Instagram. „Nachdem ich die Hälfte meines Lebens mit diesem ganz besonderen Verein verbracht habe, habe ich mich entschlossen, eine neue Herausforderung anzunehmen.“

Wo der gebürtige Berliner Schneider in der kommenden Saison spielen wird, verriet er jedoch noch nicht.

Der Spanier weiter: „Als ich 2016 zu Alba kam, war er der erste Jugendspieler, der sich bei den Profis durchgesetzt hat. Seitdem ist er vom talentierten Nachwuchsspieler zu einer festen Größe im Team gereift.“
Das sieht man selten: Basketball-Dunk geht komplett daneben
Mit insgesamt 477 Partien im Alba-Trikot steht Schneider, der 2011 vom RSV Eintracht Stahnsdorf ins Jugendprogramm von Alba wechselte, auf Position drei in der ewigen Bestenliste. Nur Henrik Rödl (512) und Teoman Ötztürk (489) absolvierten mehr Partien für die Berliner.
Nach Michael Kessens (Bonn), Elias Rapieque (Kansas State University) und Amon Dörries (Bucknell University) ist es bereits der vierte Abgang in den letzten Tagen. Dazu laufen unter anderem die Verträge der Leistungsträger Matt Thomas, Yanni Wetzell und David McCormack aus.

Schneider klingt fast ein wenig wehmütig, wenn er sagt: „Mit vielen Menschen bei Alba und im Umfeld verbindet mich längst weit mehr als nur Basketball. Es sind Freundschaften und persönliche Beziehungen entstanden, die mir sehr viel bedeuten.“
