„Homofobní urážky a chování už nejsou přijatelné. Jako společnost jsme se vyvinuli a spolu s tím se musí změnit i chování ve fotbale. Existuje celá škála trestů a sankcí, které musí být v tomto případě uplatněny,“ uvedla před více než dvěma týdny francouzská ministryně.
Reagovala tak na bojkot kampaně proti homofobii, kterou Ligue 1 vede už pátou sezonu. Zpravidla to znamená, že hráči mají na dresech logo s duhovou vlajkou a na stadionech jsou bannery na podporu LGBTQ+ komunity.
Téměř každý rok se ale stává, že někteří hráči na protest proti této kampani odmítnou do zápasu vůbec nastoupit nebo si logo překryjí páskou. To letos udělal i bývalý hráč Chelsea, Manchesteru United nebo třeba AS Řím Matič. Většinou je za takové chování čeká trest.
A ten dostal i Matič. Navíc souhlasil s tím, že se v následujících šesti měsících zúčastní kampaně za zvýšení povědomí o boji proti homofobii ve fotbale.
Není to poprvé, kdy tento šestatřicetiletý záložník odmítl podpořit nějakou kampaň. Když ještě hrál v Anglii, odmítl nosit na svém dresu symbol vlčího máku. Tím Britové vyjadřují úctu padlým vojákům.
„Plně chápu, proč lidé nosí mák, velmi respektuji právo každého tak učinit a cítím hlubokou soustrast s těmi, kteří ztratili své blízké ve válečných konfliktech. Pro mě je to však jen připomínka útoku, který jsem osobně zažil jako dítě. Vyděšený dvanáctiletý chlapec, který žil ve Vrele, protože v té době byla moje země zničena během bombardování Srbska v roce 1999,“ připomněl tehdy účast Britů na bombardování Srbska během konfliktu při rozpadu Jugoslávie.
